blue shift lift

Right, so I'm starting blue shift again. I get up to the bit with the lift that you need to fix at the beginning, but after it stops then starts again the scientists spontaneously combust and touching the floor hurts me until I jump. Then the screen goes black and it says employment terminated due to misuse of a firearm. I had the same problem last time but I think I just fluked through it then. Any ideas how to get past it? I couldn't find anything in steam support or a forum search.

What's the map name of the one right after the lift crashes please? >.<

Oh wait, you're there?
Why not just follow a walkthrough until you're past that part?

 

[Sam]

No no, it's while the lift is going down, it stops, the scientist complains and it starts to move again, then after a couple of seconds he dies and gibs, then the other 1 does, this is while the lift is moving so I can't avoid it.

Edit: I tried jumping to the next map but I have no health, armour, torch or gun. I can pick up the crowbar but still...

Any ideas?

So you have recently downloaded BS and are playing it with Steam?
That sounds really weird...maybe delete that file that everyone says to delete... I forget what it's called, that client blobby thing...

I have it on CD, I got past this bit last time somehow, but I think it was only me getting hurt then not the scientists. I'm downloading it off steam again now to see if that'll help.
