Bronze edition - I was screwed!

At least, that's my opinion. Here's the story in short - When HL2 came out, I skipped school to be among the first to get it. I got the game, so on, so on... but the store didn't have any other versions at the time of the release, so I, like many others, got the Bronze edition. I kind of want HL:S and the possibility to play DoD:S when it's out. Now, the Bronze edition cost 69 American dollars. Collectors edition costs 86. Now, is this an issue between me and the store, or...? I don't know... I guess I just want an outside perspective on this little matter. Any help appriciated.

I have the same problem. I'm not even sure if any of the other versions were available in the Uk, so short of downloading the game through Steam, I don't think I have any ways to play DoD:S or HL:S.
Quite annoying to say the least.

DoD:S will undoubtly be released in stores, probably not too long after it's released via Steam. As for HL:S, it's just HL with reflective water and ragdolls, you aren't missing much.

Its not VALVe's fault you jumped right in and bought something, its called "control your spending" which you failed at.

Yep, it did cost 69 dollars. 400 Danish Crowns.

I wonder what DOD:S will cost... 100 Danish Crowns should be fair (do the math, 1 U.S. Dollar is worth 5.74 Danish Crowns).

Well, I guess Disturbed is kind of right. But I didn't say it was VALVe's fault. But what was I supossed to do? You know as well as I do that Half-Life fans don't have impulse control.

Anyway, I think I'll have to wait for DOD:S to hit the stores...

You would be paying like $17, when a steam upgrade should only cost $10 when its released.

Half-Life: Source really isn't worth a penny. It's hardly touched and any small changes are barely noticeable. Wait a while and as soon as Day of Defeat: Source is released you should be able to get it for a small fee.

That would be an asshole thing to do, then the next person would have a non-functional HL2 copy.

I'm 99% sure that they are releasing DoD:S in stores due to the fact that a lot of people bought HL2 at the store, maybe not realzing they wouldn't get DoD:S...

You guys need to use Steam more though Like buying products through it and such. I feel bad for you if you still have 56k...

To tell you the truth, what I liked the most about HL:S was the physics! Damn, it was nice to see a grunt fall down a ledge after I'd shot him. The thing is, it was almost surreal to see that happen in regular Half-Life. Anyway, I've got a little question about HL:S - can old HL1 mods use it as a basis for their mod? Just wondering if it's any good to the modding community, cause if it is, it would only be logical to try and obtain it, no matter how disappointing it is.

By the way, yeah, things are pretty expensive over here. I had to pay 869 Dollars for a BFG-6800 Ultra-OC. A bad-ass mofo indeed, but still pretty expensive.

DoD:S will be available seperately, and for way less than $70 like you'd have to pay for it otherwise.

HL:S isn't really worth the money, it's exactly the same but with different water and explosions.

You were screwed, HL2 retail was supposed to cost $55. It did for me, and i bought it two days before the release(yay for Best Buy )

I got HL2 for about $66 until the store realised that they regretted putting behind all the Halo 2 crap that was hogging valuble space. HL2 is now $99 at that store.

I too skipped school that day (well I was semi sick too though) to get HL2. And guess what? A teacher calls me while playing around with the air boat! From school! That was the first time I ever got a call from my school in about 13 years. That is one damn annoying coincidence Had to act quickly & pretended to be sick over the phone :E
