Can Alyx die?

Well, I finished it and had a great time. But for some reason Alyx seemed immortal. I'd leave her alone for long stretches with like 5 antlions surrounding her and she would come through unscathed. If Alyx cannot die the entire game kinda loses something, makes it all seem a little pointless.

So can she?

what did difficulty did you play it on? I played it on hard and she died a couple times, especially when waiting on that elevator out of the zombie infested building.

Yes. She was gunned down by the gunship in one of my games, and ganged up on by five or six Combine soldiers while I was busy beating a Zombine to death with my crowbar in another. The game ends and says 'Alyx Died' when she dies.

The thing is that she has a very large amount of hitpoints, because even Valve couldn't make her as intelligent and good at avoiding damage as a suitably skilled human player.

Yeah, I played it on normal.

So what happens when she dies? Does it give you a some cryptic text like usual?

Okay, do you think she like regains hitpoints over time? Like heals naturally?

She has to, because it's not like she ever uses a health station.

Probably. Maybe she refreshes her hitpoints at every loadscreen/level. I'm not too well versed in the technical aspects, sadly. I'm a storymonger.

When she dies, you get a "Alyx Died" on top of your crosshairs, and the screen goes red. Then the game reloads.

In addition to having her die after being ganged up on by a room of Antlions in "lowlife", I saw her ragdoll it about 9 times as I struggled to release that you had to catch the falling citadel debris, not find "the right place to stand" on it (though Valve didn't bother with the "Alyx died" message, probably because you die as well anyway)

Alyx died once with me waiting for the elevator. 2 zombines ganged up on her. When she died I was like wtf?!

Coming out of a fight with hundreds of antlions and remaining unscathed while I have to scavenge for medkits is a little weird

Especially as you're the one wearing the mechanical suit and she's the one wearing jeans and a hoodie...

there was a bug early on the game where Alyx jumped on a partially activated energy bridge, falling to her death.

The message was not "Alyx Died", but rather, one of the old "Assignment terminated blah blah blah".


I guess that means you are still working for the Gman

Not nessacarily,I got thrown clear onto a ledge once. The game froze for 30seconds then the standard whiteout occured .
