If you watch the E3 2004 video (the one that also has the counterstrike source clip near the end), it shows a couple of strider scenes with the resistance group and I am pretty sure that they hit a strider at elast a couple of times with rockets and machine gun fire. There is no way it is just one rocket. Even the player (gordon) shoots it with one and it doesn't do much other than piss teh strider off.
