cannot join cs:source and hl2 servers!!

yea i know im annoyin , but i just noticed that i cannot join servers anymore :frown: . it always says : cannot connect after 4 tries.
i really wanna know whats up with my new pc

I've had that problem ever since the recent patches, it seems that I can't join a majority of servers, although if I try enough I eventually find one that works

oh , i know what you mean .. but i cannot join any server.

a tip for u : you can join every server , just click join and waitat least 20 seconds . then it will start.
my problem is that it starts but cannot load. lol bit confusing

I'm having the exact same problem. I never tried CS:S until I got DSL (a couple days ago) and it seems that I can only connect to 1/20 servers.

I tried to connect to CS:S for the first time yesterday, and had the exact same thing happen to me- cannot connect after 4 tries. I quit the game, stopped steam entirely (right-click on the task-bar icon) and hit exit, then re-started it, went to games folder, clicked on the properties for CS:S, then somewhere clicked on "validate files" or something. I let that finish, then started the game again- seemed to do the trick.

Counter Strike servers have been turning up in CS:Source server lists, even though they're supposed to be filtering them out. Check that the game you're trying to play is CS:Source. The Steam sever browser seems to be filtering them right, but not the one in CS:S itself.

That ought to solve some people's problems at least, but i'm not sure if the Topic starter is having that problem exactly. I haven't heard of any HL2M difficulties...

Yea, I just figured it out. That bug is so annoying - probably an easy fix too.

yup.........i was just about to make a thread about this. I play DOD:S and it does it for that too. I tried validating my files when the problem first ocurred but that problem is still at hand. Should i validate all my steam files?
