Just want to be clear about this cause I like to buy a lot of used games. A person buys this-registers it- and no one can ever use it again? So guys like me can not buy it used for 10.00 at ebgames? Not happy about it!

It's not legal to resell the game. So you couldn't even be doing that.

I don't think so, but I couldn't assure it , but steam's way of working seems to point it'll be that way

Most retailers no longer accept returns on PC games for this reason.

Ok so Ebgames with their stacks of 1000 or more used games is doing something illegal? Heheh there is no way! Then where are all the game companies lawyers calling cause they are not the only ones doing it either. The only games I have encountered with this issue are the MMOrp games. Seems like I have a right to buy or sell a game just like a used cd or tape if I want to.

At least in england the only games they ever sell secondhand are console games.
However they do offer a 7 day no-questions asked money back thing for pc games, which then I guess they just re-shrinkwrap and sell as new again.

You can sell your Steam account. It's illegal but only so Valve can cover their backs; I can't find anything morally wrong with it at all, assuming it's not banned etc.

The CDs are ALWAYS useless as anything other than a backup of the game's content. It's the key that matters, at least up until the point you attach it to your account. ;)

If you buy or sell a copy of Half-Life 2 it cannot have been registered to a previous Steam account. Unless Valve makes some way to unregistered your games from your account you won't be buying a USED copy unless you don't actually want to play it. I would never buy a used game that you can play online, you don't know if the person that sold it to you still plays it online or gave it out other people to use. Plus a game like Half-Life 2 deserves to be bought by anyone slightly interested in it. It will likely be one of the best first person shooters you have ever played.

What he said. I wouldn't ever buy a used game that has multiplayer and a cd-key either.
