CellFactor Interview!

Oh yeah, but there are some issues I'm concerned about...
- Hasn't this been posted already? I'm fairly sure it's old news, as I've seen video clips of this weeks ago.
- Yeah, lots of physics there and stuff, but it doesn't really look like good gameplay if you ask me.
- Pie.

I dont even think its a full game. I think its a tech demo or a small lan game. Thats cool i guess they still deciding if they are making a full game.

Err, it is a full game mate, it has been announced for a 2k7 release for the PC and the X-Box 360.:)
I quote the description off of GameSpot.
"CellFactor is an FPS with an epic storyline, set in a warefare industrial atmosphere. It features 3 playable main character, each with distinctive play styles."
It's planned for both the 360 and the PC(I wonder how the physics'll be like on the 360 hmm..) Q4 2k7.:)

I think thats a different game. Thats CellFactor. This is CellFactor Combat training.

Here check it out.

What single player options are available? Will characters and weapons progress within the game?

In the CF: CT demo, there are bots that you can play with or against. As it's just a demo, there aren’t any weapons or progress to the game. But you can bet that if we ever do a full CellFactor game with a proper single player mode, there'd be a progression of your character's powers from a normal human to eventually becoming god-like in your capabilities.

Note the IF.

I think this is just a demo thats why its call combat training. Plus the 360 shots look NOTHING like the video. I think its 2 diff games.

Or it's just that the 360 shots are one year old and ALOT can happen in one year, especially if it's super early in its development.
Hmm.. That article is sorta confusing, at times it sounds like they're also doing an SP game, whilst it might or is seperate of the MP game, and at other times it does not..
All I really can understand is that it's Artificial Studios that did this MP demo, but Immersion Software are doing the actual game, either SP or MP or both..
I want that demo tho!*Prays to god that they either release it for the public or someone leaks it*

Edit: I read it closer and found a better quote for your statement, I posted it on the 360 CellFactor forum on GameSpot where all the 360 fanboys thinks the techdemo is for the 360 and showing off its physics.

In mid-January 2006, we decided to develop a PhysX-oriented multiplayer FPS with Ageia, and worked out some interesting mechanics to allow players to use physical objects simultaneously with their gunplay. But we needed an underlying story and visual style to go with the anticipated game play. The production team (Immersion Games) that we work with had an interesting storyline for a single player action-adventure FPS called CellFactor. So we adapted background elements from the CellFactor storyline, combining them with the game play mechanics we'd worked out for a multiplayer game, becoming CellFactor: Combat Training. The entire development cycle for the CellFactor: Combat Training demo took 2 months, from mid-January to mid-March.

It's gonna be fun to see all the 360 fanboys reaction! http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/cellfactor/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-27581012&pid=929142 If you wanna watch haha ; )

lol nice. Reading.

oh and i do hope they release that demo. It looks insane.

Yeah, not to mention it'd be a great promo thing to show off the PhysXs effects, even against bots it could be hilarious I think..:)
If they don't we should really inquire'em about it.. I seriously can't see the harm in compiling it for public use.. Unless there're some SUPERSECRETOMGZ stuff in there!

Part 2 if the interview is up:

It explains more then the 1st part.

What do you want players to take away from player CellFactor: Combat Training?

I'm hoping that players will enjoy the experience of competing in a multiplayer environment that has got a lot more physical elements than has traditionally been possible. It makes combat inherently more dynamic, as you never know how exactly how a given encounter will play out. It's worth noting that CellFactor: Combat Training is at heart just a really fun demo, and that while AGEIA will be adding some new content to it, we currently have no plans to develop it into a full game -- unless perhaps there is suitable demand :-)

So i guess its just a demo and they ARE releasing it. Great stuff cant wait to play. Only problem is its only Lan. I understand why, i guess untill it becomes a real game its just to play around in your own server. Get a tast of whats to come with the PPU and its Power.

Cant wait!

It's not to just "get a taste", because you can play with 16 players on LAN or with a bot...

The problem comes with bandwith issues...

With EACH physical object they need to send tons of data, and sure the PPU can process the data, but the internet can send all that data so rapidly, and thus you would get extreme lag, not due to processing power, but by sh*tty connections. I'm sure if you had a T3 or T1 line it would work fine, but with most people having DSL or Cable (if they have broadband), it's still not an option.

I was agreeing with the point made. I never complained or disagreed with that.

What i was saying was that the only downfall is that is only lan. Thats not a downfall that im upset about just merely saying i cant wait for a game like this online. About the taste comment, what i meant was they are releasing this demo to give us a taste what the PPU can do.

Raziel, that's great news, I'm definitely gonna be including a PPU in my new PC later this year/early next.:D

rgr. May is just around the corner. :)

And so the PPU comes round again. Dual core games people... Cellfactor is a freakin techdemo paid for by the guys that make the physics card. The card itself isn't that great anyway.
