I usually just look at the the steampowered forum and find neat bits of info like this. So I guess there was some event in Paris and they had some chainsaw footage:

I like Killing Floor chainsaw better but I can't base it really off that footage.

Attack animation looks exactly like the other melee weapons to be honest.

Would be cool if it functioned like Sasha and had a delay before starting. Then you could go rampage on it.

They'll probably improve it very soon if they find it disappoints people, before or after release. That's why we have steam.

Can’t really tell much from that video but it does look like classic “in the works” as the animation is pretty much move chainsaw forward. I was never expecting it to be like it was in GoW because that just wouldn’t work with the hecticness of L4D still I do hope they make it better than this. They need to get the feeling of cutting through something, fingers crossed the nail it.

Better footage, you can see the chainsaw can be run continuously against multiple enemies, but there is also a fuel gauge on the weapon icon, meaning it eventully runs out of gas.

This video is also the best footage of Hard-Rain, the campaign set in an industrial complex during a tropical storm. You can also see zombies wearing hard-hats and ear defenders. (Pehaps those are immune to pipebombs?)
