I've just been playing hl and op4 again and i noticed that you couldnt really latch on to the characters. like i really didnt care about what happened to the people and stuff. the only character that i was really interested in was the g man. this wasnt really a bad thing but i hope in hl2 you will actually get to care for the characters. This would make the game a ton o funn.

ya

I got NEVER lost a barney or scientist I didnt have to. hell, sometimes I just stood there with 1 of each listening to them banter back and forth. Oh, I got attached all right.

Nothing is more fun than to let scientists block the bullets.

lol. how many times did i kill barney for his gun.......

th only connection i had to them was listening to their comments and then double blasting their head all over the wall.

in hl2 i want to actually have a connection with alyx or other characters.i dont wanna immediatly quicksave and blast her. but i will :p

Heh, I would sometimes take a bullet for the scientists from the troops.:p

I always enjoyed letting the scientists trigger the enemies for me.

Playing it 'again' i didnt find myself that much attached to the characters, but this is only because its an old game.

6 years ago when it was released, everything was new, i was amazed by the lipsynching of the characters and didnt know what they were going to say and wanted to follow the story, if a scientist dies I would usually just hit quickload, and try and make sure the character lived (sometimes hard but fun, an extra challenge :P )

The G-Man was the only individual NPC in Half-Life. The rest were completely generic and without personality. Likewise, Dr. Rosenberg was the only individual NPC in Blue Shift.

I think Painkiller or UT2004 would be a better game for you.

Half-Life was unique in that the player, (Freeman) didn’t owe anyone anything. You could play through the game killing every one of the scientists (except the important ones, but you could kill them afterwards), or you could try and save as many as you could on your quest to get out alive.

Half-Life 2 removes that element by developing a greater bond with the npcs, (at least that’s the impression I get), so I hope they make up for it with different aspects of the game. (Hope I made a little sense there).

yea first time i played thru HL i never new half of the story because whenever a saw a scientist or a barney i just had this urge to blast his guts all over the walls :)

I'm honestly starting to think that it's mainly idiotic, emotionally disturbed newbies that shoot Barneys and scientists in Half-Life.

Go play Unreal Tournament or something?
