I've recently got back into playing chess and I've been playing on the internet and I really suck. Anyone know any websites with chess tips or have any of their own?

Read up on the dozen or so most common openings, learn how to play them. After that, just always be thinking 5 steps ahead. With practice you will get an intuition for what is a better board setup that is to your advantage. Try playing without time limits at the start to give yourself a chance to think.

The basic stuff is to try to have every piece covered by another piece. Diagonal pawns are good for that. Try to get your first row into play as soon as possible at the start of the game. Castling is usually a good idea.

I suck at chess, even more so I can't even play it. Its such a long game.

Get a program that has the unbeatable chess computer. When you start a game online, have your opponent go first, and just mimmic that move to the program. Do whatever the computer does. Keep doing this until you win.

Good plan. I tried that and just destroyed a man called Petrov. He wasn't happy.
