City 17 Overhead

I'm interested in seeing how all the areas of Half-Life 2 fit together when actually composed into one.

Has anyone taken overhead shots of the level and possibly photoshoppsed them together into a big map of HL2? If not I'll have to consider doing this myself.

If this was done for HL1 I'd be interested too.
 
That is a great idea. But i dont think all the levels fit perfect. Could be wrong.
 
I was wondering the same thing riding home. Does anybody know how many miles you have actually traveled?
 
My guess is that if anyone wanted to quickly check for overlaps, Nova Prospekt would be the place to most likely find them (jutting over the cliff most likely - just like in HL1's Surface Tension chapter). Other than that, I do believe they actually had City17 itself mapped out - there's a picture in RtB of a 3D model captioned "the route from the plaza to the Citadel" or something along those lines (it's late and i'm not putting a light on to read, so sorry :p)
 
i could, if you give me some time, go around the levels noclip-style and get some captures, and then stich them together with no problem. From those captures, we could speculate on other parts of the city. I would be interested in making a full open city.
 
well i know that in red letter day, there are two klieners labs, one that is connected through the soda machine and one that is connected through the vent. I found this when noclipping and looking for breens office, I found a empty teleporter room. The only reason I can think of that VALVe did this is so the do not overlap. Which i guess they must.

Here's a little something I made a while ago:

It's a map of the coast. Basically, I just edited the coast map we see in rebel outposts, by adding labels and colour to it. I used the Prima Guide overviews to aid me in the placement of the locations. Hope you like it. :)

It's almost been done for HL1, Blue Shift and Opposing Force. I've got about two-thirds of the maps combined together.

On a related note, all I need to finish the map is a top-down view of the short train-rides from Opposing Force and Blue Shift.

If anyone can get the map files, or fly up and take some screens with noclip, I can finish the whole thing.
 
Hmm, jsut as a side note, if anyone happens to have the time to take some overheads shots of levels ore even peice a few together you should post here so others can add on to it.
