I am building a post-war mod, at the moment it's just me on the team, it was originally a small project for me to get to grips with the SDK code base.

First off, I am 29 years old, a professional software developer, and also have 9 years of audio engineering experience, right back to the good old days of Amiga 500 and noisetracker, I own 2 synths (jp8000 and korg prophecy) and an array of ethnic percussion.

You can read a background story of the mod here:

www.thewakening.com

I have a Game rules document, available to team members, though I will briefly explain the game here.

When you join the server, you choose to be either resistance, or machine.

As machine your prime goal is to stop the resistance from taking over a zone.

A zone is an area, that the machines have under control.

As resistance, your goal is to take the zone from the machines.

Cut a long story short, it's a CTF style game with many added twists.

If anyone is interested, please get in touch, and I can explain more.

I have the coding and sound fx under control, all I need is everything else :)

Woah, a mod leader who knows how to code?

This guy gets my seal of approval. Although, the title should be Awakening of Machines. Wakening doesn't sound correct, somehow.

Hi Angry,

You the same guy from the collective forums?

I prefer wakening, but it means the same thing, I ripped it from a white paper regaring machines taking over the world, and the refered to the problem as a wakening of networks, or wakening of computers so this is why I went for wakening :)

edit: here is a quote from the article 'The superhuman intelligence may appear as wakening computers or computer networks.'

Yeah, I'm from just about everywhere coding-related.

"Wakening" doesn't see much usage these days, but I just checked, and it turns out you're right.

But, yeah, props to Fluxtah for being a coder and a team leader. I can see this mod actually getting past concept and into a playable build, unlike most mods I've seen.

Cool, thanks man.

I'm getting the code side of things done, but I don't think it will be to much fun if I have to use cubes and spheres for my player models and weapons. Anyway, even if I did have to it would be a learning experience.

turbosquid.com sell some cool models I could use if the worst comes to the worst.

Bah, do what I do and fabricate your own ones until something better comes along. I've trained myself to do the majoirty of things relating to a mod. But none of them especially well.

That's probably the best plan, I have an RPG7 and a pacman looking machine at the moment I did in XSI, I suppose they will do for now.

Well, if some modellers join modteams that are doomed to fail, how can they ignore you?

Good luck! Too bad I can't do anything :(

I'd be happy to work on it with you. I can do game design, public relations, and level design. I've got plenty of experience.

PM me here, or email: [email protected].

I've also got MSN and AIM if you want to get in touch on either of those, they're available through the forums.

Cool, a NIN and Aphex Twin fan, sounds good :)

Adding you to msn messenger.

I would be interested in helping you with any 2 D art you may need, be warned though, i am not that good. You may find some of my previous work at the Head Humped forums.

I think I may have found some of your artwork at the head humped forums, I can't say its that bad because my drawings are extremely bad but I guess artwork takes practice like anything else.

If someone was to draw every day for at least 1/2 hour I can imagine they would get better all the time.

If you was to try and draw some machine concepts for the mod and I liked them, I would put them into the game and credit you but I can't garuntee.

the kind of concepts we need are two-legged mech style ones.

Hi,

Sorry to inform you Kebean, but I have already found some guys that model and do great concept art :(

Thanks for the offer though! much appreciate your interest.
