Combine teleportation questions *EP 2 SPOILERS*

So, now that the super portal has been closed, the Combine can't send reinforcements to earth?

So, how exactly did the Combine reach earth, to invade in the first place?

Did they basically make the portal storms open wider, so they could send citadels through? or did they detect the immense energy earth had given off, during the black mesa incident, and punched through to our dimension without the help of the portal storms?

If thats the case, can't the Combine just punch through into our universe again, and invade earth, without the need of a existing portal. I'm sure the Combine now have the direct coordinates to our Universe and planet, and I'm sure the many universes the Combine Empire have conquered, didn't have existing portals, or portal storms.

And yeah, I know I ask alot of questions, but I'm curious >_<

I was actually thinking about that the other day...I believe that the satellite Gordon launches at the end of "On a Rail...", which was meant to control the portals, had to be controlled from the ground in the Lambda Complex. So for a small period of time after Nihilanth's dead, the portal storms were suppressed, and would've probably been stopped permanently if it weren't for the nuke. The nuke's detonation wiped out the satellite's ground control and deactivated, causing the portal storms to continue unhindered and dooming Earth.

In Ep. 2, if you listen correctly, you'd know that the rocket was meant to link up with the BM satellite. Maybe its purpose is to put a "block" around our dimension that would stop anyone else from tunnelling through?

Seems pretty ridiculous that an all powerful Empire full of dimensional overlords doesn't have the ability to seek out new lands for conquest.

Well who says that the satelite can't close the portals if they try and form a new one? That rocket would seem to have been in development for a while.

The problem is, the combine don't have local teleportation tech, which is what the rebels have in HL2.
So, we can travel anywhere we want by swinging round Xen, but the combine cannot - they can only travel from universe to universe, and they coulnd't get into ours because of the Nihilanth/Xen.
