Companion Cube Easter Egg in EP2?

While replaying Ep2 on the 360 for the 'Little Rocket Man' achievement. I randomly picked up a clipboard behind Dr.Magnusson while messing around in the silo. I put it on the wall and zoomed in, it was about the 'Conservation of momentum' or something similar and had very faint writing. But at the bottom of the peice of paper was a small scribble, looked similar to the companion cube drawings from the secret rooms in portal, (the companion cube with angel wings etc.) I'll get a screenshot when I can, and I'll try and show you what I mean.
 
Hmm sounds to me like the kind of things you could find written on clipboards in non-episode 2 half life games. Was it red by any chance? because i can remember a red scribble that had the general appearence of the companion cube , but when you look closely it has wires or some thing coming out of it.

Edit : no wait , i just saw what you meant and that has been in game since Half life 2 was released because it is the same clipboard Kleiner was looking at when he gave you the upgraded H.E.V , so its impossible it has anything to do with portal. I don't know what it means though , maybe part of the H.E.V's internal mechinism.

Also, this is definatley in a non-edited Episode 2. Its a clipboard Magnusson is holding as the lift lowers into the silo, as you enter through the door you see him place it on the desk beside him. Pick it up and have a look.
 
Honestly I'd say that's a stretch. If they wanted to make that look like the companion cube, they would have. It's such a small thing to begin with, the very act of finding it would be enough of an easter egg to make the reference more obvious.
 
The note looks like "Sum charge" and then the diagram looks like a small graph. Maybe to illustrate something.
 
Suit charger. That is just a little photoshop over the Mark V HEV Suit models from HL2, Valve has been lazy modelling new things so they keep the existing model and that's just new skin for it. If you know what I mean...

So they didn't bother removing that from there, as it's in the original plate too, they just changed the Mark V text to Conservation of Momentum.
 
Oh yeh, thats quite obvious, the black line is where they have changed the texture, below the line hasnt been changed :P. The top part talks about the rocket and the bottom part talks about the HEV suit.

How dare valve be so lazy, I mean, it's a CLIPBOARD FOR GOD'S SAKE! How would they expect us to think it could be a different one? i mean, how many clipboards have you seen before?

You know, I don't think he was blaming Valve or anything. I didn't see any hate.
 
Wait , on my Episode 2 thats still the H.E.V clipboard , its all the same exept it (obviously) says H.E.V mk V at the top.
 
And the writing next to it says "suit charger" so im pretty sure its safe to say its not the companion cube.
 
Uh, guys, read what's on the clipboard. It's a print-out of a paper about conservation of momentum in deep vacuum. OH LOOKIE, it's related to the ICBM the Resistance is launching!

Yeah but below the black line its all about the H.E.V suit though , it's most likely just to make people look at the first part and say "oh , so i guess he is doing final checks or some thing" and carry on whithout checking out the bottom part.
 
Have you even looked at Kleiner's clipboard? It just says "The Mark V Hazard Environment Suit has been redesigned for comfort and utility." and the rest is little squiggles. It's nothing to do with what's written on this one.

Yes , Its not squggles everything below that black line is the same. I will go and check later but i think it is , sorry if i turn out to be wrong. I dont really think much of it though , just some scenery.
 
I noticed that myself and assumed it was a Companion Cube. Whatever it was, it was drawn by someone on the Valve team and it does very closely resemble the CC.
 
Likely attached to an ICBM though. I doubt the Resistance had the resources to fully construct their own, and acquire all the necessary fuel and microelectronics.

It was drawn before portal though , and it clearly says "suit charger" next to it. Just a wierd coincidence i think.
 
It wasnt 'likely' attached to anything. It was a rocket which obviously broke apart during flight and essentially slowed, before opening as a satelite in the orbit of the earth, controlling the opening of portals in the earth's atmosphere.

Proof that it (the cube in the corner not the different clipboard) was in Pre-Episode 2 half life. View attachment 20717 The image was taken in Klieners lab in HL2 , the first appearance of the clipboard , non g-mod etc.

Did you mean me? Because that was there in 2004 , at the release of HL2 which was long before portal. I doubt valve was even thinking about portal back then.
 
I dont know if it has already been posted, but below the black line it's exactly the same as the clip board in half life 2 held by kleinman as he tells you about the modifactions he made to the H.E.V. suit,
atleast the cube is,

Yeah i know , but that part is pretty much irrelivent , actually the whole thing is because i disproved it. Go me.
 
lol my bad, dunno where i got that from, I did play gtaIV though, but don't remember a kleinman there..

he does look like a kleinman
 
If somewhere in between the playing and the spamming you could fit in f***ing off that'd be just swell.
