confussed with retail vs gold

A couple of questions because i am getting so confussed!

i so hope someone here can clear this up for me.

Ok If i get the GOLD addition via steam i get all the posters/hats/all that stuff....

But i want a dvd box with a Cd of HL2 so i can see it all hehehe.

so my question is....

1) if i buy it retail way (so i get a cd to install) but i get the CE version. will that come with the postters/hat/stratergy guide/all the source and old games (same as GOLD i mean.)


2) i have CS:S on my pc now. But where are the bots????
when i type in the console "bot_add" it says BOTS NOT AVAILABLE IN BETA??? but i have the full game now on my comp? so confussed!?

1) Nope. IIRC you get HL2 and CS:S on DVD. Plus a book that's a bit of Raising The Bar and a bit of the stratedgy guide and a t-shirt.
The contents of the CE are on this site somewhere, plus all good on-line retailers.

2) Dunno, what you want to play against Bots for anyway?

so is the best bet to buy it online and the GOLD one. i mean i want the whole deal...

But when i read the agreement it says "ALLOW 6-8WEEKS after release!?!?!?! i cant be waiting after release for that long!

They're posting you the stuff, all mail-order companies have a caveat like that.
It's personal preference. Maybe you want the t-shirt so badly only the CE will do? Maybe the Hat is enough to stave off your retail hunger?

So...I can buy the Half-Life 2 Retail Collector's Edition without having to download Counter-Strike: Source off of Steam? Since it is included with the CE, right?

im going to get the GOLD addition because i get HL2 and CS:S free due to my VOUCHER hehehe..

so i will get HL2 straight away (((but the hat/posters and guides will take time to come :S o well i dont mind that as long as i have the whole game hehe)))

Also do you guys think it is a good idea to buy hl2 online? i mean we will have to wait for maps from hl2 to arrive all the time

ATI voucher? Get's you Bronze, so you have to cough up some cash for the difference.
You preload all of HL2, you don't play a level and then wait for the next to arrive.

Personal Preference.
I was going to wait for retail but in the end, got Silver. I don't need the extra stuff and silver get's me all the back catalogue.
If you're keen on the extra gear well, as you say you've covered some of the cost already with your voucher.
I got taxed on top of the price though, some places don't seem to. And the pre-load takes quite alot of room so make sure you have enough space. Mines 3.5 Gb atm.
