Could HL2 go gold on monday?

ok fine, it wasn't done months ago, but that's not really my point. My point is that if you honestly believe the legal problems between Valve and Vivendi are not delaying the commercial release of the game, you are being very naive.

It doesn't necessarily have to delay the game, you're just making assumptions based on the lawsuit.

it will not go gold today. I blame steam. Steam is the cause of the lawsuit problems between the developers and publisher, as it cuts into the profits of the latter. until that is resolved, I don't think there will be half life 2 for any of us. The game was probably finished and bug free months ago.

You can keep pointing fingers and what caused the fued between the companies, but its certainly not steam. HL2 will be released once VUG gets done with the manufacturing of everything dealing with HL2. I don't understand why people think this legal trouble will make HL2 get delay, it makes me chuckle. The game was no finish or bug free months ago, I don't know where you got that from. All in all, sit down and wait like the rest of us.

personally, i say who gives a flying f**k, when we have the game in our hands we can drool madly at the monitor & enjoy the intense uphoria that is: Half-Life 2

w00t, convulisions for everyone

and we dutchies are having in about 6 days a full review of the game :bounce:

what? where? whats the name of the magazine?

lucky bastards, youre all lucky, o well, it just means the sooner this planet jam-packed with gamers can dish out cash to whats going to be the most righteous game to come for years

well, actually, i retract that statement, only because supply & demand is god-awful, taking into consideration, everybody and their cousin is gonna want this game and i dont think VUG could stamp roughly about 150 mil. copies unless they kept the machines going from dusk till dawn every week for about 2 weeks solid

heh 150 million copies? Ehmm at the end HL2 will sell 6 million copies total.

i know, but im just speculating on what my theory of mass production is

I'd like to see the game that could sell 150,000,000 copies.

Vivendi tests the games 24/7....no joke...3 shifts of 8 hours

The RC went in on wednesday so play testing, assuming 24hr/day playtesting, would have been finished on saturday.

If you look at the Steam Status page, http://www.steampowered.com/status/status.html, on saturday night there was a little glip on the available bandwidth line similar to the type of mark you get when the content servers are updated with patch/preload info.

This could be one of three things:
1: Indication that the RC was accepted and the final data was put up to the server for preload
2: Indication that the RC was rejected and Valve have had to edit and recache content (for preload or for VUG testers)
3: A random glip that I am reading far too much in to.

Please be option #1 :P

First...we do play test 24/7 except for holidays...second no cs:s, fans did my job for me on that one.

Is the 72 hours thing correct, or do you test longer than that?

It's only 6pm Valve time, so I guess we can still hope :(

it's now about 7PM valve time, hope is fading fast, someone get me some painkillers, the kind max payne's always chewing on

It could go gold any moment. Better stay awake and dont miss the moment.

The first RC has a huge chance of being rejected. Let's not just keep on waiting like this, let's just let the time pass naturally then be surprised when it does go gold.

Easier said than done.

Depends....if the company specifies a date they want testing to be stopped and they are notified whats wrong with the game, or if they already have a release date and just sent in the RC. Deadlines like those 2 examples sucks because it makes the office really really rushed in certain sections. At Vinvendi we only have about 20 computers already logged in to report bugs. We have 1 computer to every 6 in a cubical. And about 50-150 play testers testing in all 3 shifts.

I cannot(due to my contract with vinvendi) specify how long we have to play test the certain game under discussion.
