While making our BBC Panorama film "Scientology and Me" I have been shouted at, spied on, had my hotel invaded at midnight, denounced as a "bigot" by star Scientologists, brain-washed - that is how it felt to me - in a mock up of a Nazi-style torture chamber and chased round the streets of Los Angeles by sinister strangers.

Back in Britain strangers have called on my neighbours, my mother-in-law's house and someone spied on my wedding and fled the moment he was challenged.

I have met mothers who say they have suffered Scientology "disconnects" - meaning that their children have cut them completely out of their life so that they can spend more time with an organisation which a judge in 1984 characterised as "corrupt, sinister and dangerous".

After a long day with Mike and Donna we went back to our hotel at midnight, only to find Tommy Davis waiting in the lobby with his own black-clad Scientology cameraman.

He harangued me for talking to the heretics. I told him that Scientology had been spying on the BBC and that was creepy.

In LA, the moment our hire car left the airport we realised we were being followed by two cars.

In our hotel a weird stranger spent every breakfast listening to us. In all, we count 13 strangers - private investigators? - who were following us. Scientology denied sending PIs after the BBC.

It's sad to see that Mormons are often viewed as being on the same page as Scientology.

**** Scientology. I could invent a better story to form a religion on with my hands tied behind my back, and the only way I could write would be by ejaculating on a hookers lower back.

And I saw a scientology sign when I was visting my sister in Brighton. I lol'ed, because the building looked so run down.

Why do people believe in this crap? I mean it was crreated by a sci-fi author what does that tell you? I could make a better religion for my english final.

Mormonism is not as hard to believe as Scientology. Mormonism twists the words of the bible and thats why its viewed as being on the same page as scientology. altough Scientology isnt even part of the bible but uses the word Church.

Appreciated if you didn't use the word "twists". We have what is viewed as the correct translation of the bible because it has undergone mistranslations through the centuries. The Bible is very important to us, however, the keystone of our religion is the Book of Mormon.

Although the word cult fits your definition, it also has others. In my opinion, the reason why the LDS Church is viewed as a "cult" is due to our standards that we hold and may be viewed as extreme or overzealous. Because a great majority believe, "who in the right mind would give up drinking, smoking, sex before marriage, pornography, etc. Gotta be brainwashing or something or other."

Of course not everyone in our religion holds up to that standard. Everyone makes mistakes, especially me.

And no, I wasn't brainwashed :rolling:
 
Agreed. Though there may be different degrees of cult status, they are cults nonetheless.
 
Scientology reminds me of a childish gang or group somehow, scary that it has lots of adults running around doing strange things.

Sorry, i may have offended you but i really couldn't think of anything else. Sorry.
So what you're saying now is that the current Bible say NIV ESV and others has been mistranslated? I got to read up on Mormonism.
