CS:S Preloading now !?

As you can see, he edited his post saying Valve corrected the "problem".

it told me, you are not subscribed to this feature or somthing, it would be completely useless unless u use a registered Cyber Cafe steam account, in which case u wouldnt need to do it, so in otherwords, its pointless !

Looks like Valve jumped on that like an Ethiopian on a cupcake.

There has been several threads on this in the other forum.

This is just one of Valve's many security errors.

I was going through the applaunch thing once when I was bored doing It number by number and at one number It said that I didn't have the proper access to preload Half-Life 2 and this was about a week ago.

Yeah Half-Life 2 was avaible for download all week too and It gave me the message that I didn't have proper access to download it so I found a way to use my ATI CD key and It let me download it.

The game was playable but buggy and for some reason all the maps were corrupt except three and I still got Half-Life 2 on Steam.

HL2 gonna be delayed again. Expect somewhere September 2005 :P

Please don't say that. Literally, for your own safety.

yeah i did edit my message. I realised this could cause a heart attack to some people ( nerds.. )

I'm serious hey I'll take a screenshot of the menu if you want.

Duh he is not. In a screenshot it showed that the preload has only the map dust. ( not confirmed yet ). And the rest what he said was bull-shit.

Yeah show screenshot dude

I was talking about Half-Life 2 not Counter-Strike Source anyway here's the menu.

You can see they've changed it a bit since this year's E3 2004 version.

Calhoun, are you f*cking with us or is that truly real?

Plus I thought the menu was realtime 3d.

Yes, because they WOULD use a blurred screenshot from a nearly year-old technology demo for the background on the main menu! :D

Also ingame sshots, with your own nick killing a bot or something. then i would believe you ;)

Yeah that's truely real.

I'm just joking and photoshopped a menu using the real Half-Life 2 menu picture from E3 2004 to make It look like the real one and used some pictures from the Half-Life 1 menu to do it.

Here's the real menu from E3 2004.

See sig. Either go to a cyber cafe tommorow or wait for the official preload for everybody else.

lets hold the content servers hostage until they release it to ATI/CZ owners :D

The actual HL2 menu according to the people who have recently playtested - is a real time rendered 3D landscape of city 17. Something like what he has actually posted - but it would animate and stuff I suppose.

Like in Halo?

Yeah I've heard a rumour about that but I've offically heard that real time renderings are supported in the menu so I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

Good, because here I was trying different numbers for the applaunch shortcut :D

what are those #s for? in the spoiler tags?

Hey einstein, you forgot to add a quit button to your fake HL2 screen

That's because I never use the quit button I just type the quit command in the console.

Uhh i don't believe you man, i dont see why Valve would change a real-time 3d landscape for a menu to a blurred screenshot without "Quit"

At this year's E3 2004 It was a blurred screenshot used in the background.

Yes but it was a better screenshot than that.

People who have recently play-tested the game, up to about 2 months ago said it was a real-time menu, like Halo. So its entirely 3d and rendered in the engine. A Screenshot is not like that

What the hell? I was saying at this year's E3 2004 in that version It was using a screenshot for the background not the real-time menu so re-read my last post.

I know man, but you said you got the game through Steam a week ago, WHY would the game have a menu from E32004 when Valve have created and are using a much better alternative since then?
