CS:S update released

Counter-Strike: Source and Source Engine updates are available and will be applied automatically when Steam is restarted. The changes include:


Counter-Strike: Source

Added map: de_prodigy

Improved player movement against walls

Improved choppy player movement when bouncing down slopes

Purchase icon for defuser is shown

Physics prop avoidance is scaled by the object's mass

Detail prop fade distance can be controlled on a per-map basis with env_detail_controller

Spectator GUI last mode is saved

Added spectate player by name

Grenades, weapons, etc., splash when they land in water

Frag grenade deafness is delayed so the explosion is heard

Fixed viewmodel lag

Added consistency checking player model bounds

Weapon reloads finish when the round restarts

Autobuy and rebuy trigger a reload if you don't buy a primary weapon

Rebuy doesn't drop pistols the player has picked up

Dropped weapon ammo isn't lost if the player has another weapon using that ammo

Re-added hostage hint messages

Smoke grenade canisters fade out and are removed when smoke is dense

Breakable glass is blown outward proportional to the damage recieved

Soundscapes update for observers

Fixed not being able to attach to ladder tops

Misc fixes to spray import



Source Engine

Fixed crash when trying to play an MP3 that doesn't exist or is an invalid format

Fixed a crash when playing MP3 files with ID3 tags

Fixed network being started early enough so UDP remote logging works

World rendering optimizations

Fixed problems with demo recording

Added command "setinfo " to allow clients to add custom user info fields (creates a new cvar flagged as FCVAR_USERINFO)

Enabled sv_downloadurl & sv_consistency on dedicated servers

Fixed "kick " command via rcon if the name is surrounded by quotes

Fixed bug in "logaddress_add" that wouldn't add the correct port if the port and address were surrounded by quotes

Added "player_say" event for 3rd party plugins

Fixed crash in dedicated servers when issuing a say before the map is run

lol al the sudden my internet started going a little weird and i clicked on my steam it went down and crashed then started back up and css was at 75%
 
All of the servers are out of date. I'm bored. Not showing any servers in the internet list.

Question:

When I try and play on any server I now get a message along the lines of "Server using different class tables"...Does this mean that the servers I am trying to connect to have yet to be updated?

just find a server with prodigy on it and you'll know its updated.
 
Just wait a while, more servers will restart then.
 
WTF, when i signed on to steam it showed that I didnt have CS:S installed when I did. Anyone else get this??

Yes, I got the same thing. Just select install and it recognizes that you have it, and then the update must be downloaded.

I don't know if my connection is being slow or what but it is taking a LONG time to download and I want to PLAY.

i really appreciate the update, i really do...but how hard is it to make a few more skins?
 
The Game is broken for me thanks to the new update when the menu loads up it freezes before the source logo and menu options come up they stay faded in the background (I can barely see them) this makes the game unexitable so I have to restart my computer.

I'm using the new Catalyst 4.12 , anyone else with this problem? ;(

You should put a site up that details what stuff is coming up in the future. Are the ATI levels in the trash?
 
Im just wondering, did steam also update HL2 for any of you guys?

Because it did for me, in fact I was playing HL2 when it crashed me out and started downloading an update :rolling:
 
Since the update I can't play CS:S, it just crashes when it's loading a map. It gives an error that read something like, 'the memory at (something) can not be read. Click OK to terminate the program.'

I'm not having that problem but since I have installed the Cat 4.12's on my 9800 Pro when I run the Stress Test I see big red "ERRORS" during the first part of the test with the revolving textures and stuff. Anyone else notice this using the 4.12's? I have loaded up the game and it seems to run fine ?!?
 
only 1 OLD map since september,bad work

no new maps
no models

and hl2dm only 2 boring sp maps :angry:
 
same ERROR signs on stress test, 9800pro with cat 4.12. Anyone know solution? Plus in console when I play it reads that I have missing sound files, and performance problems. But sound fortunately plays. Anyone else experience this? Please give solutions.

my problem fixed itself yesterday after I got a new graphics card. :smoking:
