CSS losing connection?

Hey,

I just bought CS Source and I was having trouble with something.

Whenever I start playing after a minute or two everything stops, my character can't move and nobody around me is moving. I can move my mouse and look around, but actually trying to run anywhere is not possible. As everything stops, the timer is still going. I bring up the menu that shows all the pings and shows the same thing that it would have shown before the freeze.

Nothing will happen, I just stay in that one spot for a large amount of time until I disconnect from the server manually. This happens again when I join another server. I don't seem to get any type of error message.

Seeing how I can still move my character's head I would think that this should not be a graphics problem, but more like a connection problem?

I do happen to have an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (128 MB) and I suppose that these graphics cards are notorious for having problems with CSS from what I have seen. What I have done is downloaded a new driver, and turned off both VPU Recover and Fast Write. This still has not done anything for the situation.

Any ideas would be useful!

Just to note: I have been doing some more reading, I have not tried doing a clean boot yet...

I guess you haven't seen the nVidia problems then :p

Are you behind a firewall or a router (or both)?

Yes, I have a Linksys Router, that has not seemed to have brought on problems like this before with any of my other games, but that is a valid point...

I have window's firewall turned off, however Norton Worm Protection is on.

I will turn that off and see if I then have any problems, if that is a problem is there any solution to keeping that going while I am on? (sorry for the lack of knowledge :| )

Turning off norton worm protection didn't do anything, still ran into it.

I thought to look in my console after one of these "crashes" and found this

Well, it seems that something is blocking the packets your computer tries to receive. You should try opening the ports required for Steam and its games on your router.
Here is a link to the required ports.
