Custom Steam Skins

I found some good custom steam skins on filefront this morning when i was lookin around. They come with an installer that will configure them and put them in your steam directory.

I tried installing skins manually but couldn't get it to work but after getting this skin pack they actually show up in my settings!!!

There are two or so skins in this pack that didn't seem to work very good. All together there are 10 different skins in this pack and most look pretty good. My favorites are the Jungle and IronWorks skins.

For those who don't know how to use custom skins all you have to do is run the install script and then YOU MUST RE-LOGIN AND RESTART YOUR STEAM for the skins to load into the engine. It's annoying yes i know... Then after all that you goto file>settings>interface and select from the list of skins!!

haha because the default steam looks dull and boring...
I liked the custom skins in this pack so i thought i'd share my finding...

Yeah, but people probably possess the capacity to find skins themselves if they find this forum.

I think you assume to much of the average person who finds this forum. No offense, average people. Most people can't find the Search button at the top of the forum; a few of them don't even understand the meaning of the word Google to find out information for themselves. The guy just wanted to show off something he found anyway, what's the harm? He saw something and figured other people might want to know about it, so he posted. It's no different than at least half of the threads that occur on this forum.

now i havent been looking for any new skins but i always knew there where some out or will be ( there wouldnt be if there wasnt the choice to change it ) and I'v never really cared for the green skin... so this was an interesting find... even though for some reason it doesnt work... at least not for me anyway.

There's no harm, but it's a little strange (in my opinion at least) to post about this because I've seen CS goons find new skins before.

It's true that this could help some people anyways.

Well, it's also possible that some people don't know you CAN skin Steam. They'd never search for it because they simply didn't know. Plus, again, sometimes people just don't think to search and want stuff handed to them, even if they do know Steam skins exist.

Anyway yeah, no harm. I hope it didn't seem like I was jumping on you for thinking you were jumping on him, or anything like that. :cheers:

You can see that the installer installs the files to the \steam\skins directory
