I would love to see a halflife2.net clan enter CAL this year. It starts in April and has a European and US division in 12v12 and 8v8 categories.
Whether there is enough interest to maintain 2 full squads for games here is debatable.

Discuss without being negative about the actual competition.

well it will happen if enough people are dedicated to playing each week once a week for 2 months or more
we dont need a whole lot of people just 10-14 interested players who can be relied upon to make this clan idea work

i would love to create some interest in this - the problem is keeping that interest and the hence the numbers
For example i'd love to see AiM, Loke, theamazingrando, jimbo, shakermaker, cyberpitz, jnightshade, evo, unfocused, kamikazie, ren.182, kaf11, amishslayer and canadian gunner sign up
i know people like crazyjeepdriver, bf2slut, axyon, sulkdodds, hectic glenn etc. have and do played/play
so the numbers are potentially there - whether the enthusiasm exists remains to be seen

Enthusiasm from me YEAH!

But with -=256=- it's a bit tricky to play proper matches with you and balance work, college, girlfriend etc.

If it started earlier I probably could've done it, but as it stands I'm leaving for college and going overseas for the summer (sometime after May), which means I'll have ridiculously bad ping on North American servers ;(

well there are disticy Euro and US leagues - it would depend on where the majority of players hail from...
anyway the main league play is April May so if you're interested you will be at least around then

I'd love to, buty everytime a clan I was in entered CAL, I was never able to play because of my work schedule :( I'd love to say I could though.

I'm actually already registered in CAL, for a goofy CSS and CS clan I haven't heard about in a while... *coughBRYANFcough*

Anyway, it would be very cool, but I'm not sure it would work. I mean, a big part of why our clan is so great is that it's so loose- we don't operate like a hardcore clan, but instead, like a bunch of friends. CAL would probably change that, and I don't know if that's for the best.

fair point
it is a discussion after all - i'd like to hear more opinions

Want to make this serious? Get yourselves a new seperate forum, sort out server location payment etc. Get some organisation and get in some leagues.

Want it as it is? Great, keep it up, but don't bother entering any leagues, you will get owned big

my two pennies though :)

Exactly. We don't have any try outs or applications, you just have to be a member of the site and own the game.

I should be able to do this. I'd have to only be on the weekends, preferably Sunday as I sometimes have things to do on Saturday. I'm intrigued by this concept though. The weekdays aren't good either what with homework and all that.

8v8 - Tuesdays
12 v 12 - Sundays

At this stage i might just say forget about it - on the other hand, asking people from other forums to form a CAL team wouldnt be a bad idea really
so its just be and Davgunner :(
havent played with solaris (he's only just got the game) and morneheru

Oh well. Besides, getting a server costs money...something I'd prefer to spend on other things... I like the idea of getting into competitons and such. Sigh.

Personally I don't think it'll work out too well, most of us don't have the desire to 'take it to next level', whether it's the sacrifice or unpredictability of life (going to college next spring so...) which makes participating in CAL not quite feasible.

We'd have to get alot of people to get it going...I'd love to be in a competitive clan, I just wish I didn't work such shitty hours at work :(

But yeah, I've always wanted to be competitive.

i would love to play, im not bad and i have the initiative to attend every single match. (just ask nightshade i bugged him alot for our cs:s team :D)

I've played in every clan match we've been in except for one, including the bastion of pure sechs that was the HL2.net/-=256=- Clan match. How the **** do you forget me?

*ahem*

I agree with JNightshade. An organized HL2.net BF2 clan would be awsome, but part of what makes our "clan" so cool is that it's so loose. We don't hold weekly practices, regular matches, etc. It's just a group of friends who get together once in a while to pwn real clans at Battlefield.

Speaking of 256 vs HL2, maybe we should have more of them? I wasn't around for the earlier ones and we haven't played in a while, maybe we could set more up (ex. this weekend with CyberPitz? :D)

I'm up for anything. And plus a timeframe would be nice. I might want to try to go on a date Sunday. Keyword is try, and the girl I'm thinking of is VERY flakey when it comes to that stuff, so yeah.
