did anyone know about this easter egg?

Yeah, I found that.
It's near the end of the airboat sequence. I wouldn't really call it an easter egg (it wasn't that hard to find), but a hidden area. Wondering when anyone else would notice it.
Anyway, after the bit when you are locked into the huge area with the chopper dropping the bombs and the island bit with the small concrete buildings (hard to explain) and you open the gate and do a jump over some logs. Anyway, if you go around to the left and behind the island there are 2 sewer pipes with grates. The grate on the left is bent open and you can go inside, and it's full of toxic waste (I died coming back out). You have to crawl down there, and you come into the room with the Vortigaunt.
He says something about their race being slaves for thousands of years or something, not entirely sure, had to keep the sound down so I didn't wake my bf up and I didn't have subtitles on.
Wasn't much point going in there, and as I said, I died on the way back out due to low health.

well, if you don't want to die. cheat and give yourself health. lol
Reload the final fight with the gunship on water hazard go on to the next section after that and look around until you see two pipes with metal vents on the end.
They're not hidded or anything, you just can't get into it without cheating.

Hey, I got inside it without cheating. I just couldn't get back.
Note that I had something like 100 HP and 60 energy when I went into the vent and came out the other end with something like 50 HP and 20 energy. There is a small amount of health in that room, but not enough to get you back out again. Maybe if you went into the vent with 100 energy you could make it, although I doubt it.

The first time through the game, I totally skipped most of this entire section. After you beat the helicopter, you can gather up enough barrels and crates to build a staircase that will get you to the area with the switch that opens the barrier, allowing you to jump out with the airboat and the log-ramp.
Of course, I did all of that because I'm a moron and didn't notice the ladder in plain view that allows you to turn the crank to raise the divider between where you have the chopper battle and the sludge-filled pipes with the gregarious Vortigaunt.
Oops.
I'm replaying the game now and decied to play with my brain this time.
