Been on this message board since the first E3 trailer came out, thats how excited I was about this game. Yet because of some twists in my life this is the first time I actually got a chance to play it. I am a few hours in to this game and I simply can not believe how amazing this game is, no wonder they delayed it for a year. You simply can not get this kind of quality from any other game. Just wanted to throw that in incase there is still somebody here that hasn't played this game (well ok, I was probably the only one but anyway).

I've played HL2 & HL2ep1 the minute they got out and I still replay them every now & then.

Actually, I envy you a bit - playing them the first time was the best.

Nah, first time I played HL1 was back in 1999 when it came with my video card as a demo (I think it was a old 3dFX card). Bought it as soon as the demo ended.

Did you close your eyes and cover your ears as soon as the fighting stopped to avoid all the fantastic, theatrical scenes that help evolve the plot?

Yes it is.

First three chapters easily surpass the quality of HL2, and are probably three of my favourite sections out of the many shooters I've played. The final two are more of the same, really, but still fun.

Anywhom, I tried to get one of my friends to play Half-Life 2. My friend has the game (it came with a video card he bought), he just never bothered playing it. I've been urging him to play it, thats its the best PC game you'll ever play... no response from him though.

EDIT: Almost forgot, I've always thought Half Life 2 was made of awesome and win.

For me, HL2 is one of the two best action games ever. The other spot is held by the games in the GTA3 series (GTA3, VC, and SA), which offer a completely different take on the single player action experience by creating open-ended gameplay, and the freedom that comes with it. HL2 is, of course, very linear in contrast, but that linearity is part of what allows it to reach a high level of immersion in the narrative (the oft-talked about feeling of being in a movie).

If I had to draw up a list of my top five most memorable moments in gaming, I'm sure at least three would be from HL2, along with one or two from the original Half-Life.
