Did you like Goldeneye Facility? I liked Goldeneye Facility...

Well the beta test went very well... Started a little rough with some easy to fix yet big problems...

So I fixed them up and updated the build later in the night.. Anyways, to keep you in the loop of beta testing, here are the list of changes coming in coming days:

+ Vents added instead of placers!
+ Full Looped Goldeneye Music(Orchestra version..mixed to sound directly from movie)
+ Fixed lighting issues(light changing weirdly)
+ More room in some rooms and hallways
+ Easier to "slide" into some small doors
+ More ambient sound effects
+ More detail in "brown room"(directly below bathroom)
+ More detail in bathroom
+ Two ladders added if Source SDK gets updated
+ Spawns strategically placed
+ Better weapon and item placement
+ More smaller details and changes...

I am thinking another beta test either Monday or Wednesday since I am off those days. So stayed tuned then for more updates.

The next build will include the changes so this will probably be last run at new architecture and major design changes. So after this next test, it will be testing, tweaking, testing, etc...

Then finally gotta add some easter eggs once I am ready! :)

Yup...-nods- that about sums up facility...it's like he took the N64 version, sanded it down, de-Bonded it, and slapped on some source engine goodness...nicely done John -tips hat-
 
Man, that's looking GREAT. Excellent job, if this map plays half as good as it looks, Valve would have to be idiots not to add it to the default map list.
 
Awesome awesome job. But I gotta say one thing. I don't know how possible it is, but those bathroom stalls GOTTA have doors haha. A big part of the fun with the bathrooms was hiding in the stalls, or tossing a proximity mine on the door of someone who was hiding.

I will still love this map if doors aren't possible. That's just my personal plea.
 
ya the doors will be in... I am just testing some of the older door methods and some of the new physics stuff...

Also not wanting them to be too invasive with everything else going on... It can get chaotic but extremly fun :D

Ill make sure its on the list to get done as I havent put much focus towards it. Thanks for the input.

It's looking awesome though dude, you should seriously just drop everything and work on it.. you know you want to ;)

Also, did you have to play Facility on the N64 to refresh your memory of all the locations/structures?? Coz it's bloody well done, i would imagine you would had to have walked through each room very slowly to re-create it the way you have.

BTW - The bathroom floor tiles (with the few smashed ones) looks sweeeeeet! :cheese:

Possibly. Send me an email ([email protected]) if you are interested. And actually, no I havent played the multiplayer version yet... I have run through the SP, a little bit but I sold all my extra controllers so I cant boot up multiplayer without the added controller :(

So most is by memory, screenshots, some SP, and watching the movie over and over and over :\

EDIT: And I am addicted to World of Warcraft so it is taking longer than I want :rolling:
 
Meh, I'm going through a phase that started after the WoW beta ended. I can't play any games without thinking about how much I want WoW. I'm addicted to it and I don't even have it, so I can't blame you there.



Anyways...awesome map. What did you do to those screenshots man? Everything looks so...sharp..and sexy.
 
well, this map is more important then WoW. its like the map is breathing and WoW is eating. You gotta breathe before u eat. It's just the rules of life.
 
Wow those textures make maps look pretty! Anyways this looks more like a SP then a MP map. Why dont you make a SP version of it too. :E
 
This map is fantastic!!! Can't wait to play it, but couldn't you make a CS:S version of it that would be even better with the cool guns!!! BUt still i want this MAP!!!!!! Hurry up and finish it PLZ!!

That's looking great, if it plays as well as it looks I want that to be on our game servers :D

If you want to improve your screenshots however, type in impulse 200 and it will hide the view model. Using that with noclip will get you some cool angles and shots :)
 
I really can't wait to play this map. As an earlier poster said, if this was for cs:s, i would be inredibly indebted to you.

yeah this map in CSS would be sweet...especially if someone could make a Dr. Doak skin for one of the hostages:D

That would remind me of back in the day when cs_facility was one of the maps. It really did rock, but it turned out that the main alleyway at the end of the map would be used as a camping spot for snipers. They eventually engineered the map so there was a way in from the back.
 
It's a well made map and a blast from our FPS past.
 
who cares what map it represents, its bloody awesome looking. looks like he spent more than 5 minutes texturing which is way more than can be said for most other community maps.

The map looks great, i loved goldeneye and have also had thoughts on remaking some of the maps. This map looks a bit small tough, will it be playable for 10 players?

Very impresive map, I only just came across this thread so i'm sorry if theres any conflict in intrests, I made my own version of facility.

Its been a while science Ive done any half-life based mapping but after checking out the new things in the editor I found myself being sucked back into it. Its been a while so I set myself the task of restoring a classic map from the N64 days. I managed to pick up a N64 for 15 quid with Golden Eye second hand. I spent a lot of time playing Golden Eye to make sure things were geometrically correct for the Half-Life 2 Death match version.

I didn't know if anyone else was doing the same map and I apologies if I have stepped on peoples toes in the process.

looks great! a little less dark than jonnyphive's, seems to stick closer to the original from what ive seen in the screens. gonna go dl it and play it, thanks!!!! :cool:
 
polyknetic, yours isnt quite as graphically impressive, but It looks more like the original... I guess it depends on your preferences. We'll have to see Johnnys final version

I Didn’t go for graphics, I hadn't enough time unfortunately so I just stuck with creating a geometrically good version. I only spent 8 hours on it plus compile time :D
 
Both are looking great, now get to work on the other maps. I wouldnt mind a map or two from perfect dark as well :)

Both are great maps, i hope you all map every goldeneye map, stick in some combine and you got yourself a nice sp mod :cheese:
