The past couple of months Team Raptor has been animating the dinos and has been trying to figure out how to start the coding side of things. Here are some new screenshots featuring the progress we have made. This features our attempt at ragdolling the Utahraptor and inserting it into the game. Also shown is a render of the T-Rex nearly done.

Without an experienced programmer we have been on edge with programming the different aspects of Dino-Instinct. Currently Team Raptor is looking for a dedicated lead coder to help code in gameplay, and then work your way to coding in the completed dinos. Other positions are also open if you would like to apply drop us a line at:

Also check out this little story about Dino-Instinct, gives a brief insite from the dinosaur's perspective on how Dinosaurs came to the modern age.

New Update! Here is a screenshot of what we plan to be the Carnivore team in our first release.

From left to right it is the Utahraptor, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and the Herrarasaurus.

Two out of the three Herbivores we plan on using for the beta release are already modeled out but the skins are not finished yet. The third one is currently being modeled out. As for the Carnivores they are pretty much done, just need to be rigged and animated, except for the Utahraptor, which is complete.

That is also a screenshot of an upcoming map DI_Tropics, more on that very soon.

As for the programming side of things, third person code is completed and works well and efficiently, the HUD, and the Utah has been implemented into game. We are now able to play as the Utah in game wit full animations and everything. We will release a video soon showing off some first hand game play, but first we need to fix up some animations and squish a few bugs.

If you guys would like to check in on our progress, register on our forums and check out our Development Journal, it has some WIP screenshots and info you won't see here!

Team Raptor still has several job openings. If you have previous experience with modding and you are interested in contributing some of your work to Dino-Instinct, come visit us at our Forum and show off to us some of your previous experience.

wow lookin cool... i can only guess how tough it is to get dinosaurs to work well...

Tropics, our newest map, which was/is being laid out by none other than Jon (Jonathanbs23) is close to being finished and we continue to draw near our mod's much anticipated debut. The map is a seemingly innocent paradise in the middle of the nowhere with a nice climate and awesome scenery. However, lurking in the trees is something different than your ordinary ROUS (Rodents of Unusual Size). The map includes high grass, perfect for any raptor to creep through, and large hills, which the alpha dino can use as a vantage point to survey the melee going on below it. When the map is finished, it will be posted in the Maps section, which should be as soon as a few bits and pieces are tinkered with.

On a side note, we are still looking for some positions to be filled on our staff. Namely a level designer, basically someone who could map wide open spaces for the bigger dinos (sixteen feet tall, but the highest limit will probably be around eighteen feet tall) and destructable environments for the smaller dinos (anything under sixteen feet tall), also, they must know how to make enormous optomized outside sectors/areas/etc. using portal windows, occulers, and how to make nice little details such as leaves and the like with hintbrushes. We also need 3D animators for Dinosaurs and props when needed (being able to attach joints and such for ragdoll is a plus!).

If you cannot find a position you are interested in (in this column), feel free to click here.

Dino-Instinct is far from extinct and we have proof! While it's been mostly quiet on the media update side, DI has, in fact, made some progress towards the much-anticipated final release. How anticipated is this release, do you ask? Well, it's been mentioned in Britain's own PCZone magazine (Article here).

Various renders by the modelers have also been released for the public to view. The following links contain images of mdogger's Tarchia. For those of you who don't know, the meaning of the name, Tarchia, is "brainy," it was a herbivore, with a length of about twenty eight feet on average, and a general height of ten feet. It weighed in at a massive five tonnes, and generally resided around the continent of Asia in the late Cretaceous time period. It's a member of the Akylosaur family, and it used the big, bony portrusion on its tail for defense against carnivores and other threats. Now, then, for the links:

Render 2
Render 3
Render 4

As if the renders weren't proof of progress enough, the DI staff has stated that soon, there will be demonstration videos up for the public to view. These videos will show the public the dazzling maps and models they can expect to see while playing the game. It will definitely bring about much more anticipation from the public.

On a final note: to get the game to its final release stage at a quicker rate, the DI staff is in need of texture artists. Not only would it help to approach the final release date faster, but it would also help RRDFRaptorRed maintain her sanity, since she is currently the only texture artist on the team... not to mention the person responsible for models, riggings and... well, textures. Also, positions are open for mappers, animators, and coders. For more openings, just click the Help Wanted link.
