Might seem like a strange thing to ask, but is there any known way to disable gore in half life 2? Only reason I ask is my parents have a serious problem with gory games.

Appreciate it.

Yeah you can man, even tho the game isn't to gory.

cl_lowviolence 1 I think, plus theres a low violence option in the options menu somewhere

You could also try sticking 'violence' into the console, to see what it brings up. The original commands were:

violence_ablood "0"
violence_agibs "0"
violence_hblood "0"
violence_hgibs "0"

Whats too gory to you might not be too gory to him... I dont think its too gory and im not a big fan of gore if its really extreme.

The game is NOTHING compared to say doom 3 and stuff...nothing! Doom 3 is way worse in the gore perspective.

True. In fact it was sickening kinda. But HL2 is by no means "not gory". Chopping people in half with saw blades and torsos hanging from trees isn't exactly easy on the kid's minds ;)

Who the f**k cares what your parents think? Seriously wtf! If they can't handle a game that's pretty sad.

Yes but that is fun gore, Doom 3 was sicko gore.

Doom 3's gore was to add to the expierence. It made it more scary and erie. It wasn't that bad either. If you want to see some brutal, harsh gore, watch saving private ryan. That's one of the brutalist movies I've seen.

Are you serious? I didnt think that was too gory. What blood and gore was in it looked realistic but there wasnt too much of it.

I quit Doom 3 after an hour b/c a) it's too scary
b) I don't like playing in the dark
c) no cool MP mode
d) no vehicles
e) no outdoor
f)@#$!!! :p

If your parents have a problem with gore, don't set any zombies on fire. Yikes.

Agreed, Saving Private Ryan is my FAVOURITE movie ever, it's the only movie that really makes me appreciate the sacrifices our grandfathers went through in order to keep us free.

EDIT: in the previous post I was trying to point out that gore is gore, if you use it in a funny was it seems acceptable, if you use it in a twisted way it's unacceptable.

EDIT2: Also I played Doom 3 up to the 7th undead thing i shot, for me it was too repetative, everything looked the same and i really didn't feel any compulsion to continue (I hired it for $3 Australian so money wasn't an issue).
