Well recently I had some problems with lightmaps on my displacements where lighting had these huge circular shadows scattered about...
I made a thread here
http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=101982&highlight=terrain
and I thought we had discovered the source of the problem, but after adding new terrain and a 2048x2048 normal map to the rock part of my blend texture
the map would crash while loading with this error message
"AllocatedLightmap: lightmap too big to fit in page 535 in 512"
I'm paraphrasing this error from an internet error page since I dont have a compiled version of the map that has this error...
anyways I ran a program called lightmapfix sicne I cuoldnt find the terrain without a base 2 light scale.. The map finally worked and would load but now I get all these REALLY funky shadows.. some of them look like the missing texture checkerboard pattern....
Last thing I should mention is I think the normal map for the rock may have something to do with it... the map would load before I added the texture, even with bad lightmap scales...
here's some screens.. I hope this post is readable, I've had a very long day and very litle sleep
thanks in advance
EDIT: also you'll notice that these errors only seem to occur on the rock portion of the texture
