Trying to expand my available "style" by doing things I don't normally do.

...Yeah. It's pink.

Any suggestions/critiques/comments?

Wait, what are you doing? Masquerading as goth girl?

Oh, so it's just a webpage design?

(and I would love you no matter what)

The colour scheme is unusable, and you went way overboard with the gradients. Pink on Black does NOT work, it is utter pain on the eyes. If anything, use something lighter than pink for the text, like peache.

The top header should be bordered. The extreme contrast between the bottom and the top drags the eye straight to the header, which happens to be empty, which makes the rest of the page look... Empty. A visual border connecting the two will definitely help.

Too much unused space in the header. And that calender is ridiculously useless in its current space. Integrate it into the rest of the page.

The general style looks very good though. Just a need to alter the composition a bit.

Yeah, I do some now and then to help me unwind. A lot of them are "spur of the moment" ideas. Every now and then I spend more than a few hours on one, (if it's a commission) but mostly I just like to fool around and have fun with it.

I can't help but feel you're making complaints to justify the simple fact that you don't like it. There's nothing wrong with that color scheme, and unless your eyes are worthless, there are many combinations worse than pink and black. The manner in which I've presented it is quite usable and easily a step up from the sites which the target market would already be using.

The header/site don't need a border if the background is tiled across the width, with the content in the center. It would easily adapt to any resolution without loss of quality. I had a few border/background ideas which I might try, but I don't think not having them really takes away from the design.

Having a contrast between the content and header isn't a bad thing. Do I want people to remember the fact that I wrote "Lorem ipsum", or do I want them to remember the name/logo? I can agree it does make the footer in particular look somewhat empty, but most of that is due to the fact that I couldn't work in a copyright in a way that I liked. It's supposed to look somewhat minimal, that's the style I've established. There isn't anything wrong with it.

Oh, and useless? It's a fricken calendar. It would allow for backtracking through days, and the month would change with the archives. It's in a fine position because it gets the attention it needs.

Appreciate the comments.

I'd pretty much agree with everything Sinkoman said. I can barely read the pink text, and there's too much empty space in the header.

The color is fine just to much space up top.
