Do I have A.D.D?

That's the thing that gets me, I don't experience any of that. I rarely have trouble focusing, if I want to, but I frequently choose to not focus on things I should. It's always a concious decision.

Did you tell that to the doctor? That might change the diagnosis.

I find out in about an hour. The anticipation is killing you right?

Results soon.

If you're still anticipating whether or not you have ADD in an hour, then you don't have it! lol

I think a lot of people have at least a little big of ADD, including myself. Nothing wrong with it, if you use it to your advantage, and yes, it can be quite an advantage!

But getting a pilot spot? That's hard enough as it is.

Any competent medical professional looking over your medical records will probably laugh at an ADD diagnosis, unless it's a severe case.
I'm curious as to how the drugs'll affect me, but will probably end up taking them rarely if at all.
Unless you have a SEVERE case of ADD, drugs will only make things worse on you . . . and make you a dull little boy (depending on what it is).

P.S. IF anyone has anything which boosts ADD, sign me up!

I am relatively positive (like 95%) that I have severe ADD, but who cares? It's psychological in nature, which means it can be worked out internally, and ADD medication doesn't "make you normal"... it makes you ON SPEED.

My opinion on ADD is that it's absolutely bullshit.
That, or I just know a lot of perfectly normal people doing stupid things and blaming it on ADD or ADHD.

It's not. It's just that most people just think they have. Like OCD. No-one really knows what OCD is, so they just think they might, or they want it because they think it's some kind of awesome super power. It's not. I know people with ADD, and it's not pleasant for anyone.

But then everyone's got it in some form or other, because nobody has an infinite attention span.

The doctor didn't really talk to me. Just gave me a shitload of puzzles and tests. Diagnosing and treating ADD for adults may be good, but if you're a minor it seems you're screwed for getting any decent diagnosis.

I think I might find it useful to take them when I have a huge project or test coming up, but I have no intention to take it regularly.

Hah, I didn't even read this thread. Who's ADD now, mother****er?

Seriously though, I need no diagnosis. I can't even finish an entire sentence withou

In my job I work with a lot of kids that clearly, legitimately have ADD. These kids need medication and constant attention to even function in an academic environment.

However, the vast majority are just ****ing brats who say they have ADD and use it as an excuse and a crutch. This is significantly more common.

Actually, that's not ADD, that's called Candleja

Everyone on these forums has ADD, tbh. And we're dyslexic, asperger-syndrome-injected freaks of nature. And we downright adore it.

According to the diagnosis I have it, if that's what you mean. Posted on page 2:p

Hey, I have ADHD and it really is noticeable. I used to be really overactive. I still am, but there is a plus-side. During exam-time, you can sell the meds as study-drugs for quite a bit of money. $20 for 12 straight hours of distraction-free studying.

Yes, you have A.D.D. No Your mother is not the savior of us all, yes your father was a robot, no you will have nothing to do with bill gates, yes you will be crushed between chuck norris's thighs, yes, you will go down in history as a sheep in the military and yes you will die a terrible, horrible, death.

I don't know what you're trying to do here. It seems like two of the things you said had something to do with me but as for the rest of it it seems like you were just randomly shitting words. Is there something I'm missing or is this spam?

I have ADD, and I can assure you that it is real. it's as real as any disorder.

That is like saying that someone who has split personalities is faking it, or seizures aren't real, or the dozens of other problems that people have aren't real.

The human brain is incredibly complicated and life is incredibly fragile. It shouldn't be difficult to imagine that often things go wrong when life is created.

Certainly, there are mis-diagnoses of this disease, and people who have it don't always know there is something wrong with them, and people who don't have it, think they have it.

There is no clear way to find out if you have it. Like all mental disorders, you can't, for example, X-Ray and find out or anything. This makes a lot of people disbelievers, but if you ever grew up with someone with a mental disorder, you know they couldn't possibly fake it for their entire life. Besides, I'm sure their symptoms are a problem. It's not like anyone gets any special treatment or have any benefit for having it, so why would someone fake it?

Right now I'm a volunteer at a disability workshop, and each person there has something else wrong with them. Some people there are severely handicapped. ADD is definitely one of the least damaging and evident conditions that someone can have, but it's still a big problem for them.

When I first started, I was talking with this one guy who seemed perfectly normal, and I wondered what was wrong with him. Then a few days later, I was sitting next to him at lunch and he was talking to a dozen different people, but there was no one there. So you see how mental disorders can be hard to detect. There are many disorders where the person isn't even aware that they are doing it.

If you don't know what it is, and how it affects someone, you can find tons of that information here on the internet, so I won't describe it.

At least if you know you can step towards helping it.
I might have a form of dyspraxia. We shall see.

ahh I see. Well i'm sure it'll just be a speedbump down the road and not mt everest. On the plus side, you get the drugs ;)

Trust me, overdoses on add meds just make you turn into a potato. Well, not a potato, you just are about as active as one.

Have you seen a potato? When you leave a potato out on the counter, it grows man... It sprouts out and reaches towards the sky with rejuvenated, invigorated life and optimism.

Awful comparison. :cheese:

Really? In my experience it makes you feel very heavy and sort of like you're underwater, but also intensely interested in whatever you're doing and pretty active, and not to mention talking nonstop the whole time.

Some guy took a bunch of my friend's ADD meds at a party awhile ago. We spent the majority of the night just waving our hands infront of his face and giggling about how long it took him to react.

Megabump

I start on medication tomorrow, so reaction incoming
