Do Valve Normally End Their Map Files With .HL3?

Do they? Just wondering because when searching all my Valve games on steam I found a load of map files from HL1, HL:BS and CS:CZ ending with that.

I also found a rather more exciting file, from Source SDK 2013 Singleplayer, called test_hardware.hl3. It's probably been there for a while, I only downloaded Source 2013 a couple of days ago.

EDIT: The file was in a folder called source test beside files of the same name but with different endings, one had .hl1 and one .hl2.
