do you get instruction book with retail dvd

got hl2 today from game but i have noticed that it only comes with the dvd and quick reference card.should it have an instruction book or not.i got the last one in the shop thats why i am wondering.

nope there's no instructions bar a small leaflet telling you how to set up steam

Although I do think there's some kind of .pdf file... Too lazy to check it out right now (my copy is on the highest level of the house, the third one )

Yeah there's a manual in steam, on the play games list right click HL2 and there should be a manual option.
