Do you think that HL2 will live up to its expectations?

I think it will live up to mine. I can't really speak for anyone else since I don't know what they expect.

Good point. It really depends on the person doin' the expectin'...

Yeah, I think it'll live up to most of mine.

I think it definitely will live up to most people's expectations if not exceeding them. They've worked too long on this game for it to be a flop.

Same here...

I expect it to be as fun as HL was when I first played it. By the looks of things, it should be. :)

yaaaaahahahah yaaaaaaaaaaa i really think the same :)

At the risk of getting assassinated, i didn't really like HL1 that much. I, atfirst refused to buy it, but then someday i decided i would. The next day or so it halfed in price! I sure was vex.

Anyway, at the risk of sounding like Tony Tiger who does the Frosties adverts, HL2 looks gggrrrrreeaat!!! The story line is already compelling and Valve has done a good job at hiding it from us.

I'm expecting it to be very addictive and enjoyable. All games with physics in them are found to be really addictive by me. So yeah i expect it to live up to that expectation.

I just pray it does not come out when i restart my studying cos then i won't be able to fully enjoy it.

if they add this shitty combine theory about another alien race assimilating humans it wont be as good as i expected first.

whatever happens, we've built up the community around a game that doesn't exist yet and when it comes, ironically, it will be the end of this community as we know it.

of course it will be good, most games are quite good, Far Cry was good, Doom 3 will be good...they are being developed by real professionals with loads of money...good is likely....AMAZING is a different story but i am pretty confident that it will live up to all we hope it will.

Yes, but it will only be much more interresting.

I think it will but the main thing I'm worried about is whether or not the physics of stuff like flying barrels and boxes after they are naded will lag. So many people lag on CS and DoD as it is without those things happening. Sure the netcode has been improved, but so many people with slow computers and stuff get into servers with low ping and screw everyone over. I'm afraid this might be magnified in HL2, but hell, if it isn't I'm living in my basement!

of course not . there will be much to speculate about .(backgrounds of the story, the context between h-l1 and h-l2 , half-life 3)
well ,there will be much and im looking forward to it

I think that it will live up to it's expectations. Already from the first videos and screenshots that Valve released back in 2003. Hell even from the first info we got (the crowbar and shadow that resembled a 2) I got that feeling, that special little tingle inside of me, that this will be the game of the century. That this game will own all games. When the E3 teaser was released and saw it, it only got me more excited, and the tingle inside of me grew even larger.
I've never seen a video of a game that has the same feeling, the same atmosphere as this game seems to have.
Many games are really detailed and have great story, and you can really tell that the developers have put alot of work into it. But with Half-Life 2 it's different somehow, to me it's like they put not only their dedication and free time into it, it's like they put their lives and souls into this game. They really want to make it perfect, and they won't let anyone or anything stop them, not some stupid hacker, not our whining to release the game. Nothing. They take the art of making a computer game to a whole different level, a level never before reached by any game. They did that with Half-Life and they are now doing it again with it's sequel. I cannot see how this game could not live up to my expectations, or anyones for that matter. The only thing, however, that worries me is the multiplayer. Valve seems to have been pressured by it too much, and that's why they are trying to include as many games as possible into it. It's not the ammount of games that makes it good, it's their quality. And I hope that Valve knows that.

They should just make one multiplayer game, release the ports later on, as a bonus pack. But not as the multiplayer for Half-Life 2. From what i've seen in the videos and the screenshots Halfl-Life 2 would have no trouble succeeding even if it's multiplayer was only deathmatch.

Valve, the dedication you have put into Half-Life and Half-Life 2 is simply amazing, and we should only hope that other gaming companies could see what you have done with Half-Life 2, and that they would try even a little bit to create a game with the same kind of passion and dedication as you guys do.

Valve, keep up the good work. I know you won't dissapoint us.

why not made a bet about this?
you post a teory about HL2 and the one who post the teory more similiar to HL2 story wins
what you all think?

yea the story appears to be the best ever seen in a video game ,it has movie qualities. but i dont even know a movie with a better story then half-life has.
no really ´,the story is that what makes half-life soo great.the aliens are very good designed ,they could be real and everything is just coool

I don't like games anymore, jsut because of my expectations for HL2.

But I dunno.....

After removing the hype from what I've seen, i really think Hl2 will go way beyond what i would expect from a decent FPS...As for living up to its own hype. Well i can't say for certain, but from the hints dropped by Valve and the info we have i would still say there is a lot about Hl2 which will blow me away.
