I know, I know, mouse and keyboard is so great, and why would anyone wanna use a gamepad? I agree, the mouse is alot more precise than my right anolog aim stick, however, mmoving and strafing and reloading and using all these buttons on my keyboard is just too inconvenient- I wanna be laying on my couch- you get the idea.

That being said, is it possible to map a gamepad to play Half Life 2? I can't decide whether to buy this game, which I can see is the best game ever, becasue I just detest the mouse and keyboard xperience for anything other than typing my resume.

well there is very poor gamepad support if any for half life 2.
i use a keyboard/mouse emulator called xpadder. http://xpadder.com/
it's free but there is a supposedly better one called pinnacle gaming profile but it costs $20 (free trial though) http://www.pinnaclegameprofiler.com/features.html
any way what they do is make the PC think the controller is a keyboard and mouse.
it works great but the analog movement isn't to good. (if you push the stick a little it moves the character at a crawling pace, push it a lot character goes fast) it doesn't do that.
it doesn't matter much in general because you run all the time, but for using vehicles it's frustrating.

Agreed. In all likelihood, the OP has forgotten all about this. In fact he's probably dead.

Thread killed, closed and buried deep underground to prevent re-animation.
