Anyone knows how to make a domeshape in Valve Hammer ? Or knows where to find a tutorial?

I know it is possible since the nose of the plane in cs_747 is a domeshape, and de_dust/de_dust2 got loads of em ?

Don't use that word in the same sentence as sphere please. Ever.

Clip it.

If you want a hollowed out sphere (like a half-eaten grapefruit) then I'd probably make a series of rings (with the same number of sides) getting smaller and smaller towards the top, then vertex manipulate them into a dome shape.

Don't try to carve it.

yeah you just have to think it out.. the rings method seems the best

modelling a prop is not an option?

don't try and carve ANYTHING. clipping might take a bit longer, but the control you get is worth any errors you can create by carving.

The torus tool would work much better in this situation.

That video tutorial is terrible! It may be the fastest way to make a dome, but it's definitely not the best way. Look at all the intersecting brushes! At first I thought hw was going to be using those shapes as guidelines, but then you realise the horror!

Btw I looked at the torus tool and I can't see how you'd make a dome with it. I can't see it being very useful for much really apart from really abstract shapes that don't occur in normal geometry. The arch tool seems to work much better.
