I only finished hl2 some days ago and haven't had a lot of time to check on spoilers yet. But i haven't read anything about this before so:

I was in anticitizen one chapter (or when you just encounter the first member of your squad). Somewhere in the level there is ledge you have to jump from. On the ground are some mines (those with small claws that are sticked in the ground). I jumped straight into them the first time and the screen went all red losing health. Then i hit zero and i could (and read as captions were on) hear a woman's voice yelling "don't go into the light gordon/dr. freeman". Unfortunately i had clicked on the mouse button so it started loading the previous save. I tried 5 times to hear this again but have failed so far. I decided to move on.

Did this happen to anyone? The reason i tried again to hear it is that i thought something would happen. Like the medic would come and give you 1health pt or something.

i think its the citizen's way of saying "don't die", some sort of religious/spiritual thing they got going on- just a guess

I think it’s more of a joke then actual religious/spiritual thing.

Another funny bit of Resistance fighter dialogue I heard was "I get the suit!" when I'd got killed. Only heard that one once as well (the usually don't say anything)
