E3 2006 / Crysis hands-on- new

Woot. Watching!

I dont think it SHOULD be embarassing when something crashes. I mean it happens, iv been lucky all my gaming years i seriously RARELY crash. Maybe 2-10 times a YEAR.

Ditto, hoping there is more jungle footage.

edit: lol, they must of been playing it on a crappy machine? : /

Well considering the combined body heat of all the geeks and nerds, I'm surprised it didn't crash and burn sooner, even with the uber liquid cooling

I read at gamespot they were on DirectX9 brute forcing to play at DirectX10 levels..wouldn't be suprised to see a crash or two

Omg need high res video of jungle fights please Crytek guy!

You can't brute-force up to DX10... There is lots of entirely new things in there.

They could possibly _emulate_ them on DX9, to show you "This is what it will look like on DX10 hardware", but you can't bruteforce it to DX10 as there isn't DX10 for XP anyways... And I'm fairly sure that no presenter would present their game on a beta OS (Vista)

The version of the game we saw was using a DirectX 9
machine "simulating" DirectX10 by brute force, and it looked amazing

Not saying they always tell the truth, but that was what i've read

Nice lousy feed G4. How friggin choppy is it???

Looks great though--we need HD jungle footage!!!

Looks very pretty. I like how you can change some of the accessories on the weapons. Glad to see the destructable environments are still in there :) Looks like it will be a fun game.

I'll get this evn if the gameplay sucks. Just for the graphics :)

That's the kind of comment that brings gaming as a whole down :(

I know from your other posts that you don't think this at all times but there's tons of people out there that do and it just really bugs me.

Well what they probably did was bump up the graphics and really really push DX9 and the graphics card in terms of stress to get it up to Dx10 quality.

Because DX10 is just a huge overhall that there would be no real way to emulate it. I mean to get Crysis to run on Dx9 and Dx10 they actually had to Code it for Dx9 and completely recode a new renderer for Dx10. Not like in previous versions where they could just Code in all in Dx9 and scale some calls for Dx8 and Dx7.

Well, it looks extreme - but graphics don't interest me and I'm not expecting anything great from the gameplay or story so I can't really say I'm looking forward to this at all.

the AI and animations were fairly FUBAR there but otherwise showing alot of potential
2007 release I reckon, 2006 sounds just a tad ambitious

damn jungle choppiness :( i really like the weapons system too...what are the specs gona be for this?

damn the chicks on g4tv are HAWT! just watched the mgs4 preview, that chick is fine...

holy shit.

I will cry if crysis doesn't come out for 360. The game-play looks so much fun. The graphics? Probably the best I've ever seen in a video game.

Watch the 'Trailer and Cryengine2'video on page 2 of ign videos that clarky ^ posted

I hop Nvidia and ATI release DX10 cards in Jan 2007, just before Vista hits the market
