ALright, not to be a pain, but since EBgames.com shows the release date as Sept. 1st and its only 10 days away, is that any sign that it might actually ship that day?

The beta is still open so no. When the beta ends it will probably go gold shortly after. Then 2 more weeks for production shipping and its in stores. End of september is my best bet.

I think maybe a little later than this, it does take a while to make all the copies and ship them.

Im hoping that Valve will announce Gold status soon...real soon. I'd love to think that the September 1st date is true, but i highly doubt it. I'd guess for a mid-late September release if it's not delayed any more...

What we heard: When Valve announced that Half-Life 2 assets would be preloaded onto Steam on Thursday, it seemed it wouldn't be much longer until the game went gold. So many gamers are now playing the guessing endgame, trying to peg when exactly they can step back into Gordon Freeman's HEV suit. The September 1st crowd was given a lot of ammo by EB Games' listing, since the site has a long record of revealing release dates early. But is it true? It looked that way…until Valve decided to delay the HL2 preload until Monday. When it will happen. For sure. Really. No fibbin'. I swear.

Bogus or not bogus?: Probably not bogus--if the preload really does happen Monday.

As much as valve has kept secret untill now, i wouldn't be surprized if it already went gold and nobody said anything. To Play you will have to register it over Steam so... who says they didn't go gold a week ago and when you install, they just patch it to change whatever (if anything) wasn't approved by Vivendi?

I would (Be suprised). Think about it. We would be hearing all kinds of rumors, it would just get found out. And if it already went gold, that would mean people would already be packing it, and those people would tell everyone. I hasn't gone gold. But it will. Soon.
