ECC , Registered or Both?

Im going to get a socket 940 Athlon, and i understand that it needs registered ram. does it also require ECC checking? thanks.
 
No, it doesn't. Depending on your application, you may want it. Generally ECC is a little bit slower and more expensive, but it's much stabler (I'll just presume you know what it does). Once you get to the point of about 1 GB of RAM, both registered RAM and ECC start to make a lot of sense.
 
Not required but I couldn't agree more with psyno.
