Well Aftermath was a temp name. So I don't think EP2 or 3 should be named anything, nor do I care.
EDIT: You see, they were origionally planning to just make another full length game, which is why it was called Aftermath...

Also according to some interviews Aftermath was part of the Episodic Content, Episode 1 and 2 combined into One episode, but then they decided to split the project so thy could work faster.

I was pretty sure that Aftermath was an expansion that would encompass the story arcs of Ep's 1, 2 & 3, and then they decided to break it into episodes, because that was what was cool back in the day.

In retrospect, "Aftermath" being Episodes 1-2-3 would be good. Basically, if you add all their chapters up, it results in a full length game.

Hell, I'm glad they broke it up; playing Ep 1 and Ep 2 in one sitting would make it less awesome IMO.

I don't recall Valve ever saying they were doing a full-game after HL2. Just everyone expected them to be. I do remember people thinking Aftermath would be an expansion. Early rumors even thought there was a game in the works that you play as Alyx. Valve said they never considered Aftermath as the final name. Too bad though. I liked the name.

However, a PC magazine I read had a large feature, including an interview with Marc Laidlaw, on Half Life 2: Aftermath... So, I mean, wouldn't he have just said, 'Oh, no, that title isn't right.'?

I still go by my ancient idea that the entire episodic series be called "Half-Life 2 Aftermath". So we'd have "Half-Life 2 Aftermath: Episode One", "HL2 Aftermath: Episode Two", etc.

Long names, yes, but they make sense. Someone's who's new to the series could easily get confused between Episode One and the original HL2.
