I have spent more time the past few weeks playing the Orange Box (TF2 beta , portal, EP2) than I have the past 6 months total PC gaming and still am trying to find ways to fit gaming into my daily hectic life.

How could Valve possibly top the Orange Box when Episode 3 comes out? It can't be an easy feat, I could even dare say not even possible!

What other goodies could Valve possibly tie in with EP3 to surpass the greatness of the OB?

:D

I think if the timing is right Left 4 Dead might come with it.

A working replica of Gordon's crowbar! :D

Well L4D is due out in Q1 2008 so unless they delay L4D or Episode 3 is going to be as early as they say, I doubt that would be the case. (I did have a dream they did though. :P)

I'd imagine nothing quite on the scale of Orange Box, probably more likely a Source remake of Ricochet or something. :E Or perhaps the rumoured HL2 "expansion pack" rather than Episode will be bundled with it. i.e. Blue Shift 2 in the lost week or something.

Already have one. :D

But the only time they're going to surpass themselves is if they come out with either HL3 or another OB-like bundle of kickass games. It will be a tall order, but I have confidence in them.

Yeah, its going to be really bloody hard to top The Orange Box, especially considering the success of the 2 'backup games' for need of a better term.

I have been to the future, and I have opened "The Mauve Crate."
Contents include:

Episode 3

Duct (a game where you have a unique weapon, that creates ducts)

Red Orchestra (must... get... more...people playing)

Headcrab Adventure Princess Castle (Princess Zombine needs to save the land from the evil wizard Freeman)

Pong-le! (it's pong, with Episode 3 backgrounds)

and special bonus: Starship Troopers 3 (this time they shot the movie with a $10 budget and hamsters for actors!)

I do apologize if there where multiple posts, my work comp hates posting.

They'll probably just do Episode 3 by itself.

Hmm, its a good point. Topping the Orange Box is going to be fairly difficult. They will certainly have to have the polished gameplay in Episode 3 (not to mention a fitting conclusion to the story arc?)

So I guess they will have to make Episode 3 near-flawless (as if Episode 2 wasnt close enough), or add some other Valve games to sweeten the deal. L4D would be an excellent idea, though its doubtful how well that will go over, since its being made by another developer?

Valve shocks world with The Fuscia Box!

Half-Life 2 Episode 3 - The epic saga continues

Crate - A fantastic new and original game where the player is a crate, linked heavily into the half-life storyline, the player must avoid destruction by such enemies as the crowbar wielding gordon freeman, the wrench wielding adrian shepherd and the hungry Dr Magnusson with his insatiable need for Casserole's.

Angry Killbox 2000 - The inevitable evolution of all online multiplayer, 175 players, 200 weapons, 48 vehicles, 1 box, let the spam cometh!

Released: Fall 2008

Who said that they needed to continuously add more and more games to a "package"? I have no problems just receiving HL2E3.
Such presumptions...

Codename Gorond, I think. It has something to do with not how aliens invaded Earth while were asleep, but why the world's become two-dimensional. Go figure.

I'd like a Half-life 2: Director's Cut, sort of a nice and legal version of the MI mod, maybe cleaning up the bugs and stuff, but releasing as is, no support or anything.

Even Episode 1 had HL: Deathmatch: Source. So we're bound to get something. :E
