As their hasnt been a thread on the E32K3 vids i thought what the hell.
(If there has allrdy been a thread on this i apoligise , but i culdnt find 1)

My personal fav section is when hes on the beach shooting ant lionts with shotgon, before the crane.

Edit:Sorry for the Lowsy Poll , but im tired heh

There have been many :S I like traptown :P

Zombies in Shed #1 The Flats/Apartments #2

I liked the arrival in City 17, it gave you a good feel how the combine are in controll and the appartment bit made it even more obvious... really cool

can zombies only get cut at the waist? cus in the shed he shoots a blade near the upper body area but the zombie gets cut in half at the waist. and the thin hangin from the tree is cut at the waist and in the traptown 2k3 video the blade that spins around cuts the zombies in half at the waist

wuts up with that?

"Rise and shine Mr Freeman, rise and... shine..."
God he's got a creepy voice!

afaik, you're right, maybe it wasn't in while they recorded the vids, but i think it will stay that way, perhabs with the added possibility to chop their heads off :D

but back on topic:
I must say i really enjoyed the flat scene the most. IMo it felt quite liflike and had a great moody atmosphere about it, where you always wonder what will happen next.

I wouldn't know. I didn't goto E3.

I normally don't goto E3, but some time I would like to go...reason I didnt go is, is because i'm in north carolina...and thats a long way to E3 from here...i think...

you can download the video on fileplanet tho..

The flat omg it was awsome awsome part. :)

AI inside the flats and how they were talkin, lookin, and screamin made me feel like I was watching real human. :D

Also you have to be a journalist.

The apartments was the best, seeing the character detail and immersion, and it making you feel sorry for them. It showed how the story is going to kick so much butt.

You have to be with the media..

You don't have to be with the media, you can still buy a pass for like $500 or something. :P

Interesting. I thought that the flats would be the least popular (I voted for it), but it turned out to be the most popular! It seems somehow that people crave for non-combat experience in the game. Well, they were really impressive because of the depressing, atmosphere of hopelessness. You can't do that with technology you've gut but with your brains and creativity. And VALVe sure got that 8)

It's a powerful scene, and many developers don't like to mess with this kind of stuff, because they know they might screw it up. Valve has done a great job with it.

It's not the kind of scene you'd see in a stupid game - that's why it makes it better than any action scene, it's a big feat on it's own. We don't get to see these things very often. This only proves HL2 will be more than just a stupid alien bashing game.

Where is the Combine combat with the rollermines? That part is great.

I'm looking forward to many, many non-combat scenes, it adds so much to the experience. I love the train ride intro and the apartment bit.

i thought the Eli Vance bit was good ! but nothing beat the Apartments, i was most impressed with them, for the same reasons that Lans described ! The exploration will be great in HL2...

That's the "Coastline" one. (You begin by driving alongside a cliff)

The Flats/ Apartments. The first time I saw that, I thought I was looking into the future of computer games. I actually felt emotional watching that section. Imagine that! Emotional about a video game! That's how much it sucked me in, the voice acting, the pacing was perfection. In no other game have I seen that kind of atmosphere, executed in such a mindblowing way that gives human responses like I had when watching it.

I'll go with the chase scene on the Air Boat.

Coastline in 2003 had such tension going for it, and the Air Boat vid was the same thing. I still get goosebumps watching Gordon maneuvering through flying debris (mainly the launched cars).

Plus the video reminded of Surface Tension in Half-Life (one of the best FPS levels of all time) with that damn Chopper that followed you around throughout the whole level.

In short it's a video that got my heart pumping. :D

Aaah yes , sorry bout not putting the Combine Combat after the cliff.

I jus did the poll thru memory , not watched e32k4 vid in a while

I voted for Zombies in Shed , i liked the feel of it , the hanging dead body, the limbs that fall when u take the blade outa the wall ....and the screams from the zombies are just classic :D

I thought the apartment sequence was best. You could almost feel the intimidation and fear felt by the citizens of City 17.

My favorite bit is when he arrives to a small house in a buggy and jumps out to fight some combine soldiers. The whole fight is cool, plus dealing with the pesky roller mines. Plus he smashed the one 'guy' with the buggy. I watch that part more than the others.

Damn, I want to revote! I accidentally voted the train sequence, when I really wanted to vote for the Apartments.

On second thought... Nvm. The train sequence was awesome :D

Apartments - attention to detail was amazing, the sound was awesome (like the little blips of the radio and the tannoy, the thumping on the door), the acting, the whole feel of it was just really, really great, it really felt like it was a block that had been lived in, but the worn-ness was not ott.

These two screens

show two things which i love about this scene (and something that i hope is echoed throughout the whole game) - the subtlety of diffferent effects - in the first screen, the wood is only reflective in specific places, the wood has a worn quality that is nearly unnoticeable but it adds to the realism. The second screen shows that the whole wall is not reflective, only the painted part. I just love this part of the video, really did wow me when i watched it.

Yes this is damn awesome, this is the kind of thing that the immature monkeys of the gaming world do not have the subtlety to see, and so they go for the shiny plastic of Doom 3 instead.

That whole scene just looked like a movie, it was fan-dabby dozey and no mistake :D

And that, that my friend is a photograph.

"Oh, I thought you were cops." That sounded and looked so natural and then looking through the window again is so coool. Gotta get that game....
