It’s just went up on the Xbox Live Markteplace. Since I don’t have my Xbox 360 here in Vegas, you’ll have to tell me what you think of it.

Note: Not available in Japan or Korea.

This game is due out next month... This was the exact game Sony used as a tech demo, and it runs perfectly on an Xbox360 (told you they were just hyping the PS3 and it could be done on X360)

I'm going to download it now, and I'll tell everyone how it is later! :)

So far the impressions have been really positive according to everyone... Obviously there will be a few bugs as the game is about a month away still... But at least the demo came out before the game :)

I've played it, and I've played it to the level that I've gotten blisters on me thumbs from all that boxing..
Great game, albeit one of the biggest problems remain, the FACES look so incredibly emotionless imo..
Like they're robots without any feelings.:D

So, a tech demo of a game on a very early dev kit that they only had for a couple of months resulting in the same quality of a (near) final game on a 360 is a win for Microsoft... how? Plus, you have to consider that multiplatform games tend to be developed to work well on all systems with the least amount of extra effort. That usually means the graphical differences of such titles are minimal, at best, unless the difference in power (or efficiency in certain algorithms) is significant enough to warrant the extra work. In conclusion, there is no conclusion to be drawn from this. There are far too many variables.

Guys, let's please not turn this into a fight between XB360 lovers and PS3 lovers..-_-
I know I'm not the topic creator, but can't we stick to the game at hand instead?

I really hope they add some form of online functionality for FNR3, an online career sort off like PGR3, i.e. that you can take your custom single player career boxer online and play him vs others, would be incredibly nice imo.

Here's some vids a mate captured off his 360.

It's a beautiful game.

OCybrManO: We don't know how fast it took them to get it running on an Xbox360... And either way, Sony probably payed the guys to quickly get the game going on the PS3 (don't tell me the guys showed the game at the Sony conference from the goodness of their hearts... money was definetely exchanged to hype the system)

There's at least one thing we know though... This will almost guaranteed be a launch title for the PS3 :) All the game rules and such are done, and they just need to work on utilizing the Cell architecture (easier said than done though).

Oh, and I never said it was a win for M$... I was just saying that Sony does tend to generate lots of hype and I was just proving that just because M$ didn't show a bunch of tech demo's, doesn't mean that their console isn't good. So I wasn't drawing any conclusions by the fact that I was saying that Sony does a great job of creating hype and people need to beware and be able to look through the smoke and mirrors... Emotion engine anyone?

You didn't go through any kind of proof. You picked one piece of irrelevant information (ignoring dozens of variables that make it a pointless comparison) and used it as a basis for your own PS3 anti-hype... as if you have some sort of grudge against Sony for killing your first-born child or something. If you'll remember back to the same Emotion Engine claims that you speak of... you'll also come across some even more ridiculous claims from Microsoft about the power of the Xbox. You don't remember any? Here's a good one:

"One of the basic premises of the Xbox is to put the power in the hands of the artist," Blackley said, which is why Xbox developers "are achieving a level of visual detail you really get in 'Toy Story.'"

So, which one is worse? Ludicrous claims (what Microsoft does best) like the one you've just seen... or showing what efficient programming/design can achieve in games later in the console's life? Personally, I would prefer the latter... but that's just me.

I'm not an anti-PS3 fanboy... It's just that I like to put the consoles on even groundings (so if one is getting all the hype, I just show points for the other and vice versa... I'm neither fanboy nor hater for any of the 3 major manufacturers... I have a nice big long rant about all the consoles, their advantages and disadvantages that we know so far over at everyone's favorite H L 2 World... Don't know where it is though)

Oh, and I know M$ made a bunch of stupid claims (they had a hard task of trying to overtake Sony, which so far they haven't, but at least they have market penetration) and I can guarantee you that four page article comparing PS3 and Xbox360 is probably irrellevant as well.

Oh, and the sentence was saying that I was proving that just because M$ didn't show a lot of tech demos doesn't mean their console isn't good... So are you asking for proof that M$ didn't show a lot of tech demos? Just take a look at the announcement of the system, and they played PDZ... Almost everytime since then it's just been games, and not rubber ducks in a bathtub (which trust me, you have no idea how nuts I went for that tech demo! I was screaming like a little school girl... But then the hype wore off)

So, which one is worse? Ludicrous claims (what Microsoft does best)

Eh, I think Sony is the one who is much better at making ludacris claims.

"It's not just a game console... It's an entertainment supercomputer"
-Said about both PS2 and now PS3 by Ken Kutagari

"Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi has claimed that the PlayStation 3 will be capable of running games at an unprecedented 120 frames per second - and suggested that future television technologies will support these refresh rates."
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=12629

""PS2 will become a basic platform for the Net,"
http://www.time.com/time/asia/magazine/2000/0320/japan.sony.html

Oh, and Sony's very own Ken Kutagari was the first to say that the PS2 would be able to render Toy Story in real-time (and also the ballroom scene in FF8 if you remember)
Do a google search for "ken kutagari"+"toy story" and you will get lots of hits about people complaining... Thus M$ wasn't the first, but they made the claim probably a year or two after Sony did...

I could just go through a bunch of Ken Kutagari interviews and just keep pulling out the quotes for the Sony hype machine... So saying ludicrous claims (which supposedly M$ does best) and then showing me only one quote, which Sony has also stated before M$, isn't exactly convincing.

Anyways whatever this isn't the point of the topic... I just finished downloading the demo and I'll be playing it later :D Can't wait!

I just finished playing it with my brother, and I must say I'm impressed. The punch-control feature, using the right thumbstick, takes a lot of getting used to, but with practice you can use it to pull off some FABULOUS! hit combos. The graphics are pretty stellar, too, and the AI is pretty competent as well.

For the first time since I can remember, EA seems to have developed a decent game.

I was really impressed when I played it last night. It looks amazing and it's fun to play. I'll be getting it when it's released.

Could anyone win with the "Roy" character? I seem to be getting my ass whooped with him :(

My brother kept going on and on about how Hopkins was much more powerful, and I was thinking "Yea right you probably just suck!" and so I took turns, and sure enough I lost with Roy Jones o.O My first time I ever got knocked down...

Is it just me, or are the characters not evenly matched? I got close a few times with Jones, so maybe you just need to adjust the play style per character, but it just sorta felt uneven at first...

Oh, and I thought the computer was pretty easy... He ended up blocking and I always then went for body shots so he was more tired and sluggish, then by the time he tried to through a more powerful hit, I just went for the haymaker and those are the hits that usually dazed him...

Graphics rock, I love teh cloth physics (though they do clip through the leg when the actor turns into ragdoll mode) and also the camera has a few small issues, but there's nothing really major... This game seems to be pretty good coming from EA. :)

I played as Jones too and I was able to win the match. I don't think I got a knock-down but I did win when the points were added up. Jones is weaker but he's able to move quicker. That's what I got from it when I played the demo.

Yeah he was quicker... If you are a defensive player and are able to dodge effectively and get some good combo's, I'm sure you could probably get a KO... But honestly once Hopkins gets a punch or two, you better get covered.

Oh and Jones' signature moves opens him up way too much for it to be truely effective (other than Hopkins where he goes cover, goes under and swings around...)

Overall I think it's a pretty decent game so far :D It's great fun to play! :D I Love the replays!!! Blood and sweat squirt = love!

all i goto say is **** all of you that have xbox360's im jealous

I won as Roy Jones, it was hard, but possible.
Also, it's good to see that they haven't changed the total punch control that's not new, but was implemented in the 2nd game.
Also, this is very impressive for a console that's so new to the market, imagine how good it can look when the devs get USED to the platform.:)
There's a pretty large difference between Fight Night 2004 and Fight Night Round 2 on the XB and PS2(Not vs eachother but vs the two games, i.e. Round 2 looks alot better than the first, on both consoles).

Also, guys, it will have an online career, but how it'll work I'm not sure off, Number 2 had it too, on the XB atleast, and it kept track of all wins, losses AND disconnects.

What control config are you guys playing with?

I'm playing with the third one.
It feels good to have the standard jabs and hooks assigned to the ABXY buttons.

I hope some of you guys get this for the 360, and will play with me online.;)

GamerTag's Gargantou if anyone feel like adding me for some PDZ/PGR3 btw.:p

The only faults I could find in the demo is that the commentary system is bugged, a few times when I knockdown Roy Jones AS Hopkins, they say Jones knocked me down, also in quite a few replays the graphics clip awfully.

Hopefully these're just pre-release bugs that'll get shorted for the February release.:)

Overall tho, EA has done a good job of balancing the games, they've lowered the power of haymakers, and I overall find the slower pacing compared to previous games, alot more appealing and playable, now there isn't a 0.001 second marginal for blocking.
