Freeman Pontifex

So this problem has been happening for the last few days. After we all watch the bridge where the combine is crossing right at the begining of Freeman Pontifex we go off to fight the ant lions. Now as soon as we start fighting, the game freezes. It's toast after that. I'm running a pentium 4 2.0 1 gig of ram radeon 8500 I know that's a bit old but it runs it just fine. It's run all of the other games on the orange box without a problem. It may be a problem with the video drivers, but they are all updated. I really don't know what the deal is. I tried reinstalling it, deleting my saved game (possibly bugged) etc but nothing seems to help. So recap the game just at this spot freezes, and I have to crash it to get out of the game. I believe it is happening at the auto save. Any thoughts?

I had that on my old PC... try reverting back to a previous driver pack and reinstalling DX

also consider saving for a cheap new rig - i am - intel e5200, cheap mobo, ati 4850.

Have you tried verifying the game cache files? That might help.

Try sv_autosave 0 in the console (or your autoexec.cfg), if you think it's the autosave causing the prob.
