func_friction in HL2

I've looked but I haven't seen, or seen any entity/func entity similar to this from HL1. Has its name been changed? Is it a new entity alltogether? Thanks
 
Interestingly, func_friction is defined in the Source mod code, but only when compiling for a HL1-style mod. I do not believe there is an equivalent in Source, though you can set up a point_servercommand to change the value of CVar sv_friction.
 
sure thatd work if only he plays the map, but if more than 1 person hits the friction at the same time, the server will crash.
 
Hmmmm... your solutions to things are... interesting, shall we say that.

func_friction is NOT the same as trigger_push

Having a point servercommand in your map changing the friction that the server has currently set will crash the server no more than if the host would have typed that command himself/herself.

The only strange thing that might ocur is if this, low-friction area is just one small bit of a map, then everyone would still have this new friciton. regardless of where they are.
