The title says it all, I was reading the behind the scenes look at hl2 at gamespot, and theres an EXCLUSIVE pic at pencil sketch map designs mad by one of the cabals near the END of production.

Yes when everything was finalised :P

It said, G-Man = Gordons father?

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!

It was a sketch of Ravenholm ideas.

It was actually relating GMan to Father Grigori somehow.

Gman is NOT Gordons father. VALVe isnt going to do that.
It'd be way too 'Star Wars'.

Not to mention completely nonsensical. How can Gordon NOT know who his own father is? As far as we know he's just an ordinary guy (so we have no reason to assume that he was mysteriously orphaned or anything) stuck in some extraordinary circumstances.

Just my take though. No offense intended towards the original poster who seemed really excited. :)

i'm still at loss for words to explain why he would post such a thing

Because I was under the impression it was true.

After all it makes sence, as there is no disprooving or prooving it, accept for the paper.

And in the article it said concept sketch? or spoiler.....

So it furthured the speculation :P

My 2 cents.

It was ravenhold... and there is a character called "Father Gregori" so I doubt they were reffering to gordon and the g-man.

That would just be bad. Terrible story, infact, the whole story would then be ruined for me and I'm sure alot of people.

Not to mention, Mister_Pie is right, it just plain doesn't make sense.

The G-Man is almost certainly not Human. Something tells me that he doesn't go for Earth girls. As has been said about the concept sketch a thousand times, the level designer was scrawling something down which becomes indecipherable to us, except if we're prone to wild speculation, which of course we are. Most likely, it was a fleeting glance of Gregory which somehow became a G-Man sighting at the same time. If it were the ultimate secret behind the G-Man's role in HL2, why on earth would it be on a random level design concept? That makes no sense at all :)

You can see the Gman as a scientist with gordon in the same picture. Gman is not gordon from the future.

But the photo brings up another puzzling question: Why throughout HL1 and HL2 is the Gman a mysterious unknown figure to gordon when the photo shows they've worked together as scientists before?
Is the G-Man in that group photo inside Kleiners Lab?
Here is the picture: http://www.halflife2.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=12423
People have brought this up many, many times. Person #9 is not the G-Man. I repeat: That is NOT a picture of the G-Man with the science team. It is one of the four generic Half-Life scientists.

Has anyone spotted a certain A. Einstein in thr aforementioned photo?

You mean has anyone spotted any of the one hundred Generic Scientist Nr 3 AKA A. Einstein in Half-life? Yes. Yes we have.
G-man threatens to kill Gordon in hl1, and he would do it. He ain't his pappy.

The dude missing in that picture is Dr.Breen, not the G-Man, don'tknow why you all care so much about the GMan and his broken speaking style, I could care less IMO what the hell he is lol, if he's Gordons father: so be it, If the G-man is god, so be it, If the G-Man is a super alien , so be it. To me I don't find it the least bit interesting..damn g-man. However the one thing that would be mildly interesting to find out is....Why is he always watching us? :frown:
Actually they usually refer to the guy to the far right in the photo as the g-man. But it is in fact generic scientist Nr 4 from Half-life.

I think what creates tension in the game is NOT knowing who the G-man is, isn't that the whole point? I'd rather not know, at least not until the end of HL3!?

I also thought this looked like the G-Man. Far right, correct?

I can make out Isaac, that weird scientist that looks like Einstein, Eli Vance, Gordon, and the scratched out face, supposedly Breen.

Those are who you can definitely tell whos who. But if you stare at the "g-man" in that picture, it starts to look less like the gman...

Why does nearly everyone think the guy on the right is the g-man? Did they not play HL1 and notice the pale guy with the black hair, scientist name Slick I think.

I think the only evidence against G-man being Gordon's father is that it is terribly cliche, and I would lose confidence in Valve's storytelling ability if they sprung this little gem on us.

I don't know who is crossed out, but has Gordon even met Dr Breen before? If the crossed out guy is Breen, it implies he has met Gordon before.
If we, the player are Gordon, we know as much about Black Mesa as he does.

Dear God this thread makes me want to go on a killing spree - those stupid mothers are right, games do make you want to be violent.

Generic scientist number 4 is also known as Slick.

EDIT: oops, I guess this thread was pretty old....sorry for bumping it....

Wasn't Breen heading up the Black Mesa project..as a director? I would assume being in the front/middle, he would be the director.

And I would also assume that since he is responsible for the condition of City 17 that this is the reason his face is scratched out.
