On the 2k forums I noticed that the game uses SecureRom cd-copy protection. It only allows for 2 game activations...my question is what if we reformat and have to re do our computers and run out of activations. Did the devs even think before doing this??

Secu-rom installs a rootkit on your computer....may secu-rom burn in hell alongside starforce

You have to call them to activate I think (after the 2 allowed activations).

Apparently this is in the Steam version too. It's crap like this that makes me wonder why I bother buying games. I expect to be able to go to a shop, buy a game, install it and then play it without having to worry about connecting to the internet or calling a telephone number to activate something. I want the knowledge that in five years time and 1000 formats on 12 PC's I can install the game without worrying that I installed it on too many PC's or my hardware spec differs.

That's not acceptable. I paid $50 for the game I shouldn't have to go through that. People who bought the bioshock pc version need to raise hell over this. This really is bs..considering the pirates not only get a free Bioshock but they don't have to put up with this crap.

Ok, ignoring the fact that this shouldnt even exist, why the hell would the 2 activation limit be on Steam? Why the hell wouldnt it just be bound to your account like HL2 was.

Am I really alive or are we all in hell already?

*thinks*

And Xbox360 gamers can resell, share borrow and relativly do whatever they want with this game. Yet another situation where people that actually pay for the software are getting punished...where's the motivation to actually pay for it. Pirates will crack this, yet again, Dld the game and not have a thing to worry about.

I, for one, paid for my copy. I will also be searching FEAVERISHLY for any crack that may pop up to rid myself of this GARBAGE. FYI, I've had to instal this game twice already. Good call 2K.

As long as you uninstall the game every time you format, everything will be fine. Admittedly you're not allowed to play the game on more than 2 computers, but if you uninstalled the game on the first computer you could then install it onto a third.

Exactly my problem with this. As I mentioned, XBox players can do whatever they want with their piece of software. What if I have two XBoxs. It's no different than an XBox owner giving their copy to a friend after they complete it, which I've done numerous times with my console games. Developers certainly didn't get any money from that transaction. This is garbage, plain and simple. :flame:

You cannot stop pirates, period. Now, that doesn't mean that you simply give up on security, but you don't make it so excessive as to unduely burden your honest customers.
