Garry's Mod

Hi, I recently got Garry's mod. It works great. Now, I would like to host my own dedicated server. I tried hosting one inside GMod, but it says "disconnected. steam validation rejected." I tried to go to tools, and edited the launch options like this - "game gmod9 -maxpayers 4 -console +map gm_construct". My source dedicated server says its 100% ready, but does not show up in 'My Games'. When I try to launch it, it looks like it's loading, but nothing ever comes up. Can any1 help me so I can host my own Garry's Mod server? Thanks !!

The Steam Validation Rejected is a very common glitch. I believe there is a fix on their site however.

you know, i used to be able to play garrysmod but counter-strike source is at 0% updated. guess when this problem first started. the update of october 31 or so. and my computer is really fast. i just don't understand. in those glory days when i played, i was either kankrelat or XANA. but now im just playing deathmatch.

When I'm in GMod, I click "Start New Multiplayer Game", and I am in. Now, does that mean I am hosting my own server and others can join? Or, do I have to click "Create Server" and try to Connect to that?? I know the command "sv_lan 0" will help others join in when I am playing.

I've searched through tutorials on Google, but have found everything so confusing. I need an easy tutorial on how to do this. Any suggestions (direct links would be preferred.)
