Hello, couldn't find anything using search so I just thought I'd ask if you guys knew how to get CS:S textures and HL2 textures into Hammer at the same time. This seems fairly basic but I can't figure it out. Thanks!

Extract them with gcfscape and then you'll have to batch convert the vmt's to work with HL2 (or vice versa).

I admit, I've never heard "batch convert" used to mean "copy and paste them en masse into the right folders."

If the original poster is mapping for CS:S, he has all of the CS:S and HL2 textures already. All HL2 content is automatically downloaded as part of every mod and is included in the SDK configurations of those mods. Extracting textures and putting them in HL2 folders (and, of course, embedding them in BSPs) is only necessary if one wants to use mod textures in some other mod.

Important note: making Valve's textures available to people who haven't paid for Valve's products (by embedding them into the BSP and making that BSP publicly available) is a violation of the Steam subscriber agreement and, potentially, is an act of copyright infringement.

I did it a bit differently, creating my own folders which required the vmt's to be updated.

Okay, thanks, I didn't follow everything exactly, but it is 2am :\ When you use HL2 config when you load hammer, you don't get CS:S textures, that's all I wanted, because CS:S has some nice building/house textures I need to use. Anyway, thanks for the info and I'll give it a try when I wake up later today
