I recently bought a Gigabyte Motherboard. Anyway when I opened the box I noticed that the Heatsink over the n650 Sli Northbridge chip wasn't secure properly, I investigated, and I found one of the fixings, that secure the heatsink down, was broken in half.

Rather than going through the hassle of exchanging the mobo, I thought it might be faster to find a replacement, but so far I brought it into a local electrical/electronic retailer and they haven't seen the kind of fixing before.

Now with the power of the internet, I was hoping there would be somebody on this site who could tell me what type of fixing it is, that way my search will be made easier.

I don't know if there was a spring accompanying it, but I know that it does on the fixings in my Southbridge

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Unless you want to be able to exchange it. Retailers get shitty with a motherboard covered in glue, don't ask me why.

The connector may be proprietry (yeah, sp, stoo foo), of only common in asia. Best bet may be to exchange it.

Thanks anyway, I was only hoping. I just put through an echange notification this morning, and a courier should be coming to pick it up sometime before christmas

?

never ever use that retailer again ..most northbridge fans are held with those ..go to a reputable dealer they'll have it

dont exchange it just because of the one little plug
